    Second Emirates NBA Cup tips off with Group Play games from Nov. 12 through Dec. 3; Semifinals (Dec. 14) and Championship (Dec. 17) in Las Vegas.

    the in-season tournament was good last season

    for whatever reason, teams took it seriously and there was a noticeable step up in intensity when it was an in-season tournament game as opposed to some random regular season game, both from the players and fans in attendance

    the in-season tourney or Emirates Cup might be like the play-in where I laughed it off when it was just an idea, but it ended up becoming a positive after being implemented

    And ironically it can never be, cannot even come close. Especially if they again trot out the most hideous playing fields every created, and that is an understatement to say the least.

    I suggest not dismissing the IST because of how popular it was last year.

    I'll repeat my point from a year ago: The next step is to give these games special meaning. This is inevitable.

    Even though I worked at EK for over 7 years, I hate that it's called the Emirates NBA Cup.

    Its still a joke because if the players don't care about regular season games why should the fans no matter what kind of gimick you try and use.
