What’s sad about this is before he went off the rails Trump did have a personality where behind the scenes he got along with everyone from Hillary Clinton to Richard Nixon to Mike Tyson to Dennis Rodman to whoever else.

Had Trump ran either as a Democrat or as a non racist non dictator normal Republican plus celebrity profile (see Arnold or Reagan) I could totally see a world where him and Obama go golfing together or him and Biden doing a joint press conference or whatever.

The problem is you cannot normalize what Trump has become because he is now a danger to our constitution and democracy. That’s not a problem for Democrats though because it wasn’t their choice for Trump to launch his campaign on racist conspiracy theories about Obama to cozying up to dictators, to literally trying to overturn the presidential election.

Yes it would be great if Trump and Biden could be bros behind the scenes and just trade jabs on policy only. However the truth needs to be said here that the choice was Trump’s and Trump’s alone to make that type of relationship
Impossible.

 

Trump is the swamp spawn of what Gingrich and Co started.

I think both parties have failed to address Rust Belt inequality despite the overall success of globalization making the US the financialized center of the world.

When it comes to white collar corruption, one hand washes the other.

 

Gingrich, Limbaugh, the Contract On America, etc...US Politics all went straight to s!!t starting in the early 90's

 

Oh yeah. Trump just saw what he saw with this large base of voters, and simply said "hey... I'm an entertainer. I know exactly what they want to hear."

I don't know what changed with this segment of the population, or if they were always this way, and just needed permission. However yes its the voters ultimately who permissioned, and allowed for a Donald Trump to be what he is today.
