the building wasn’t part of the area they secured, they didn’t have officers stationed on it and you didn’t have to go through and checks to get up there. you can use whatever term you want, but it was outside the area they secured.
For anyone interested, here's a more detailed listing of Cheatle's work experience, including serving as the senior director in global security with PepsiCo.. Which I think may be the reason for the comment about Cheetos (and I guess the fact that her name is Cheatle). And Elon Musk seems to be the source of that droll remark on X, which has then been repeated by others. (Or Musk may have repeated someone else's comment. Who knows.) Who is Kimberly A Cheatle? Kimberly A Cheatle is the 27th Director of the US Secret Service, sworn into office on September 17, 2022. She succeeded James M Murray (May 2019-September 2022). The federal law enforcement agency under the Department of Homeland Security is tasked with protecting former presidents including Trump with lifetime protection. Cheatle is responsible for successfully executing the agency’s integrated mission by leading a workforce of more than 7,800 personnel. Cheatle has worked for the federal government for 27 years, holding several positions within the Secret Service. Prior to her appointment as the Secret Service director, she served as the Senior Director in Global Security with PepsiCo, where she was responsible for security protocols for the company’s facilities in North America, according to the agency’s website. Her previous role with the Secret Service was as the Assistant Director of the Office of Protective Operations. In the position, she collaborated with ten operational divisions and the Technical Security Division to research, develop and deploy technologies that reduce risks to protectees, protected facilities, and protected events. Before that, Cheatle served as the Special Agent in Charge of the organisation’s field office in Atlanta. She was appointed to the Senior Executive Service (SES) in February 2016 as the Special Agent in Charge of the James J. Rowley Training Center (RTC). For her exceptional performance, she received The Woman in Federal Law Enforcement Public Service Award and the Presidential Rank Award. Her name was also featured in the list of 2022 women in security by the Security magazine. The second woman to lead the Secret Service (Julia Pierson being the first), Cheatle did her BA from the Eastern Illinois University
I'm not playing whataboutism And I get your overall crusade on left extremism though I don't agree with all it. This guy was 20 years old. That's the point. Misguided youth is the bigger issue, I don't care about any 20 year old's politics, they still have a lot of growing to do
Democrats need some time to reflect on just how far they went with their threats of violence against President Trump. It must stop. Let this near miss serve as a wake up call.
"He was on top of roof that was NOT considered part of the Secret Service perimeter" is an incorrect statement.
We vote because in the binary system that is American politics, there are still significant differences in the two parties and many of us believe that these differences are worth choosing one over the other. I don’t think any sane or mildly thoughtful voter believes either party is going to fix all the problems, many of which are the result of human nature and would persist even if there was a “revolution” (communist or otherwise). And when you live in a country as large and diverse as the US, you have to accept that you’re never going to have a voting option that aligns 100% with your interests. But you can recognize and vote for those whose best meet your needs, even if (again due to size and diversity) progress is going to happen at a glacial pace. This is the reality and not voting (or shooting our opponents) is certainly not going to change anything for the better.
The person or persons responsible for the security plan need to be fired. 1) This plan created a blind spot that allowed an individual to set up with a rifle and shoot at the podium/crowd. I understand it was outside the perimeter, but it’s the secret service’s job to know. This dude knew. 2) If you watch video of the counter sniper it’s almost as if he’s caught off guard that someone is shooting. The body shield to move Trump was delayed. Seconds that were not available. 3) A person died and there may be other injuries unreported. Inches from having a former President killed. That should not happen in 2024.
The unemphasized point is the shooter himself. A 20 year old kid likely motivated by the push to "do whatever is necessary" to make sure Trump isn't elected. Perhaps it will come out he was a skillful strategist that knew how to bypass security from years of playing COD.
8 years of straight of battering all media outlets saying he's a racist, bigot, Nazi, white supremacist, and that democracy will die if he's elected. It's no surprise somebody young and impressionable was going to panic and think they need to kill him to save the world. For too long any anti conservative movement was not just unpunished but supported by the left wing leaders, no matter how destructive or violent it got. And the rhetoric only got worse and worse the closer we get to the election, including the President himself. This is the libs fault. Get ready for the "he brought this on himself" bs. Libs are never wrong in their own mind. They'll blame DJT for anything that goes sideways but won't take responsibility for this.
The worst of the worst on this board (fchowd, DD, Sweet Lou/New Yorker, Xopher) have already gone there.
