The simplest explanation is usually the correct one. They're not going to shoot someone and incite a panic at a crowded event just because a guy is on a roof. We don't know what they saw and when they saw it, particularly an active threat.
Nice post. It's going to be a water gun fighting a forest fire, but at least it's something. The die is cast already. We have a system which generates and rewards extremism. We are on a course of self-immolation. No nice speeches can change it.
GOP members on this board are the biggest gaslighting mother****ers I have seen. Trump has vilified anyone on the left or right who have opposed him. He has repeatedly called for violence. Now you dumb****s are shocked someone believed his rhetoric that Trump wanted his opponents taken out and tried to act first.
I believe law enforcement were going up there to the shooter's position to check on him. I think they held their trigger until then. His youth and most importantly, don't disrupt the rally maybe one reason they didn't fire. And they likely didn't think he would pull the trigger. The shooter surely saw the snipers and was not going to live another day.
Tyrants expressing concerns about democracy is real comedy. ps Don't tell anyone our founders selected a Representative Republic over a pure democracy for a reason. It had something to do with over reactions.
We don't know any details yet. He was on top of roof that was NOT considered part of the Secret Service perimeter. They had not secured that building or blocked it off. So him being on that roof wouldn't be an instant security threat that would trigger them to shoot him on sight. I guess it's possible they spotted him on the roof but didn't see his gun? Or maybe they agents were in a pickle because they saw a guy with AR-15, a gun he's allowed to have, on a roof that he was allowed to be on and didn't know whether they should shoot him because he might be a 2A loving Trump supporter just exercising his rights?
Yes, that makes sense. But it's still weird that they didn't secure the roof and that police who were alerted ignored the warnings. Seems like a failure.
Not securing that roof seems REALLY questionable. I'll be interested to see what they come out with as far as an explanation.
Ask how many of them are preparing to leave the country due to the potential impending “dictatorship” and “end of muh democracy”. Of course they also said they were leaving in 2016 and moving to Canada/Europe. “Get well soon Hitler!” “I am glad dictator Hitler is still alive. Wishing a speedy recovery!” Couldn’t build the wall, drain the swamp, “lock her up”, but he’s gonna implement “muh project 2025” LOL Gonna put AOC and Maddow in camps LOL Whoever wins will serve their 4 years, there will be an election in 2028 and both parties will have new candidates.
Deeply concerned that this could cause even more violent acts from both sides towards politicians or opposing rallies. I would be absolutely shocked if we don’t see some retaliatory shootings targeting Democrats soon. If the shooter was black, gay, or trans I’d be fearful of retaliation against those groups in some way. As for Trump, no politician should need to fear violence, though we’ve seen attempts on Presidents before several times. Possibly this might win some over to AR bans if any good could come out of it.
That'd be some real irony. The failure IMO was not securing the roof and/or stopping the rally until they had gotten him off of it.
I honestly thought trump post 9/11 was covid which if he actually took it seriously he would have won the election easily. Him surviving an assassination attempt isn't really going to sway anybody who were dead set on voting for biden. I fully expect him to up the extremism not squash it. Man whole playbook is villifyin the left why stop now?
LOL. It’s just gotten weird at this point. We have people saying “I’m a C level executive” and just saying off the wall **** on the regular. I’ve sold a lot of my sales product to C level players and I’ve yet to come across one that wasn’t either extremely polished charismatic/ or stoic as all get out. So many questions
Trumpsters spewed violent rhetoric going back to the tea party days, and now they are freaking out that the other side is listening to them. At some point, they need to realize you reap what you sow. Violent rhetoric doesn't just inspire violence against the other side.
