That is really faulty logic. If you believe someone is a threat to democracy then you probably then don't want them assassinated because then the ideology they represented become a rallying cry.

Yeah there's an odd take I keep seeing pop up (not sure if here, I have only read like the last 3 pages), its. "See, this is what happens when you say Trump is a threat to Democracy!" And it's like...yeah, but he is though??? Did he not try to overturn the election? Yes. Yes he did. Him being shot at doesn't change that fact. Him trying to overturn the election was extremely divisive. I'm happy Trump wasn't killed, truly I am. I do think if he should win it will be very bad for this country and that many, even those voting for him, will forever regret it, but I don't wish for him to be killed before he does ruin the country. I'm no fan of thought crimes. What I'll say might be controversial but... But I'll say this over and over again, when you threaten to take away democracy and you threaten rights...people will take that seriously. No one lied about Trump being a threat to democracy, he literally tried to overturn the last election he lost, he LITERALLY said he'll be a dictator on day one. These are not lies. These are not fabrications. These are facts. Conservatives always go on about their 2A rights and that their purpose is to prevent a tyrannical government...well...if Trump learned anything today its that many Americans will feel very free to exercise those rights if he threatens to take them away.
