I’m getting a taste of what yall
Are going through. Big thunderstorm rolled through here last night and I think it blew out a transformer. I’ve been without power since 1:30 am.

Will see how long it takes Xcel to fix

It's the voices in his head. When I say nobody likes him, but he swears people do, again - it's the voices in his head.

Wow. lol. Idiot telling people to clean up with downed power lines. This is a new level of stupidity.

Just in case someone seriously considers it sensible...

Electricity always seeks the path of least resistance to ground. When it touches a tree, the tree becomes that path. When you touch the tree, you become part of that path. Just don't.

Yeah all that, but remember: "We'd have died off tens of thousands of years ago as a species if the bulk of our men were as cowardly when it came to dangerous jobs that needed to be done to save the community as they are now"

Idk about y'all, but that's a mantra I can live by. My day-to-day life in 2024 is conducted with the same bravado and sticktoitiveness as my Homo heidelbergensis forefathers.

"So what are your hobbies, Dave?"

"I'm an amateur bomb disposal technician."

I know it's probably fluff, but at least they're talking about it. It is kind of wild that Centerpoint has such a big area. But Texas New Mexico and Entergy weren't doing all that much better with their % of customers out. We've just not seen a direct hit like that in quite some time and for folks that were hit by the derecho storm, it's beginning to seem like groundhog day. I know folks who have the 19th as their estimated time for getting power.

Hahaha, still laughing about this awesome line. Definitely, I too type with the gusto of homo heidelbergensis. About to send some work emails that would make any ancient primate proud.

Hard to take them seriously when the trip Gov. Hot Wheels was on included the CEO of Centerpoint.

I've always been partial to Homo Erectus -- their self titled debut album was an absolute banger. They're like The Beatles of hominids imho.

I read "mail" as "mall" and was like damn, did this storm mess up this guy's ability to pick up one night stands at the mall?

This thread is strange to read when you have 1 person on ignore and have for years.

I'm in Kingwood and we finally got power back last night. We were in Florida during the hurricane and got back Wednesday night. My neighbor has a generator and let us use 2 outlets. Not sure what we would have done without him.

Some weird stuff in this thread, but I saw someone talking about "generator etiquette".....how people should turn off their generators at night so people can sleep?? LOL....that ain't happening. There are generators going all over Kingwood and I don't care. I'd rather people be safe and have power enough to run fans than have it quiet outside. Actually I'd rather have power a week after a hurricane but I guess that's just asking too much from the most industrialized country in the history of the world.
