Rep. Scott Peters (D-Calif.) is the second House Democrat to call on President Biden to withdraw from the presidential campaign since Biden’s news conference ended.

In a statement, Peters did not mention the news conference but said that Biden’s debate against Donald Trump last month “raised real concern” and was “not a blip.” Peters also cited swing state polling that had “worsened alarmingly” since last month.

“The stakes are high, and we are on a losing course,” Peters said.

All the typical conservative posters are in circle jerk in here lol. Seriously man, Trump or Biden, both terrible choices if we are that concerned about cognitive ability. Trump doesn't even really provide anything of substance, just makes up ****, uses a ton of hyperbole, and in general doesn't really have a plan. If anything, he probably wants to be back in office so he can take revenge on his political opponents lol.

I mean we get it, Biden is ****ing old, and is really showing signs of decline. It sucks that Democrats needed to hear him ****ing debate before calling for the axe, but whatever I'm glad they finally saw what many others have been concerned about. Hopefully he does bow out of the race and we get a younger nominee that has the experience to run.

If they coalesce around a candidate, they have a chance to win - it’s 4-5 months away and a lot can happen. I say that because while Biden looked jarringly old and appeared to be struggling neurologically, Trump looked like he has lost his fastball as well. The only reason there is no discussion of his poor performance is because Biden was a mummy…. Americans are pretty decided on Trump and whether they like him or not… and that’s reflected in some of the very recent polling showing both that a majority of Americans want Biden to not run, but even with that, Trump and Biden are tied…. That speaks to both Biden and Trump.

So - if the Democrats could avoid a 1968 type situation, and run someone that is either not The Crypt Keeper or a Felon, they would have a chance.

I agree with you though - they have to coalesce around someone and that person has to either inspire to some degree or at least know how to run against Trump.

The only way any of this happens is if Obama decides it’s time to pressure Biden out.

Not sure its worth the risk replacing Biden with anyone and still losing, people aren't happy with Biden. Biden hasn't done anything to keep most Americans happy.... The only people who still back Biden are leftist extremists or those with Trump derangement syndrome. Those who aren't in a social media political war only look at inflation, housing prices, interest, immigration and where tax payer money is going. All the other stuff we discuss is non existent form them. Its just simply not that Biden has done an outstanding job but he is too old, its that he has essentially *cked the country and the people here at the cost of pushing radical leftist agendas for his party.

Replacing Biden with Kamala doesn't exactly tell the people in this country that things are going to get better but more so that things will continue to get worse. Not what people exactly are voting for.

I think there is a lot of truth to this… it was a perfect storm. They see him every day, they also have a vested interest in him being President… and when he is able to sit and talk without interference, he likely can be as thoughtful as he was a decade ago… plus he likely really had a cold and was tired…. But at the end of the day he mentally can he as good as ever, but physically he has aged a lot and has neurological issues that make him an ineffective communicator.

I have railed on the Republicans for failing to smash Trump four years ago after the Capitol was stormed - they were spineless…. But like the Republican’s deserved criticism- the Democrats at the top deserve criticism for failing to stand up and dissuade him from a second term.

Both parties have not been putting America first.

America doesn’t like Trump. They think he is a crook and unethical. The Americans that are going to support him have already made peace with his history and still like him - but it isn’t enough for Trump to win…. That is spelled out in polls, especially those recently release where 2/3 to 3/4 of likely voters say Biden should withdraw from the 2024 election… yet Trump and Biden are STILL virtually deadlocked… so this election is going to be decided by a relatively small amount of voters that feel two ways - Biden isn’t physically qualified to run in 2024 AND they don’t like Trump.

I expect Trump to win in 2024 - but he is a very unpopular candidate who happens to be running against an 80+ year old man well past his prime.

It’s pretty clear someone very high up is pushing for Biden to step away based on the reaction of the media, including left leaning media, to the debate - and the fact so many Democrat donors and congressmen have spoken out.

While I believe Pelosi has that sway with congressional candidates, I don’t believe she does with the media.

It isn’t Bill Clinton, his health isn’t good. It isn’t Hillary, she no longer has that power. The only political person with that level of respect across the board - with those connections and that can handle it this delicately is Barrack Obama.

The election is going to be decided by rural America and blue collar class, those who aren't on social media and aren't filling out any polls. I wouldn't say Trump is unpopular, I think he has gotten more popularity this time around than in 2020. In 2020 I totally agree, Trump was extremely unpopular. Lets be honest thou, Trump is awful for identity politics and liberal movements. A total disaster. After getting Biden in office for Trump to replace him it will be a major blow. But for the country, Trump is by far possibly the best candidate available from either party. He truly does run on American first and we need that right now.

However, its going to come at a cost. Mainstream media whining every single day about Trump.... They will never let this man run the country in peace. I'll admit this thou, I'm done with the 12 years of Trump v Hillary v Biden.... Looking forward to 2028 when we might get some visionaries and young candidates in office.

You don’t have to speculate on that. He says it himself at practically everyone of his rallies.

One of the most telling things is that for how bad Biden has been the last two weeks he’s not plummeted in the polls and most polls still show him in striking distance with a few polls show him even tied.

More interesting is some polls show Kamala Harris within the margin of error or even leading Trump.

I still don’t think polls definitive but given that Democrats have underperformed in polls the last few years compared to actual election results reports of the death of the Democrats is far from certain.
