I agree. Edey will be pretty solid and IMO better than Clingan but we already have Sengun who is better than both of them.
Yao was a pretty special talent. If not for injuries Yao would have been a generational level player. Zach Edey is no where close to Yao lol…
Yao also trained at an early to just play basketball. So yeah, he's going to be more advanced at same age. Edey can be his own man and play his own game
I still think he was a huge reach for Memphis. I would have taken Devin Carter and traded Kennard and not thought twice about it. If you want Edey that bad, maybe you trade Kennard + stuff for a pick later in the first round and gamble on him still being available. You take the BPA, and that clearly wasn't Edey.
Edey needs to add a reliable turnaround jumper. Right now he’s way too one dimensional in the post relying on overpowering his man and shooting that hook. He’s not as agile as rookie Yao but more agile than 2008 Yao. Will be interesting to see how he turns out … and if he can avoid injuries. Feels like the reverse of the 2002 draft lol with Yao and Amare-like players switching draft positions.
