I would have done the same. I mean, I would have bet on the health of Kawhi and George, too. At the time, Kawhi's standing in the league was near the top and George was in MVP conversations, IIRC. You play out their time in LA 10 times, I bet you get a championship in at least 3 of those simulations. Those would have been good enough odds for me.

EDIT: I also agree with signing this 34 year-old George to join Embiid and Maxey. It probably won't happen, but if they had 5 chances to win a championship, they probably take 1. Which is more than they would have won had they signed a bunch of supporting players around Maxey and Embiid.

Go big or go home. Go all in. When you have the MVP level player, it's worth the risk.

Brian Windhorst can be a windbag, but he was very cold in his assessment of PG joining the Sixers.
Two min video. What he says at ~0:55 seconds is very blunt.

On his podcast Paul George said that he was willing to take the same contract that the Clippers gave Kawhi (3 yrs 150 mil) but that he wanted a NTC attached to it and the Clippers refused.

If the Clippers struggle next season it can get real interesting with the potential of Kawhi blaming management for not giving PG the NTC he wanted to sign the same deal as Kawhi.

Paul George wants to avoid discussing how many Games he has missed during his contract.

Paul George really exposed himself saying he was avoiding talking to teammates and in a bad mood.
He cares more about the money than the game.

The Clippers finally stood up to Paul George and tried to force him to sign a lesser deal. It was the correct move, because of the Luxury Tax, can't make moves, no flexibility.

Philadelphia will really humble Paul George, if he plays bad in the Playoffs, or gets injured and misses games.

Wearing 8 is such a bad move. He will get mocked for that.

Daryl Morey dealing with Tracy McGrady all over again. Tracy getting a secret surgery on his knee. Daryl Morey really traded Tracy McGrady to the Knicks and looked finished.

the media has been singing doom and gloom on harden featured teams since he first left houston. Harden missing the playoffs is something I have to see with my own two eyes before I believe it

It's a tight move for them. Possibly tipping the scales. But possibly not.

i would've dumped both hawaii and paulo jorge if i was the clips management and paid bspn and podsters to talk about how brittle and unreliable those 2 are. maybe trade them for some bad contracts and picks.

Bad luck for Daryl and the 76ers.

Paul George injury: 76ers' newest All-Star has bone bruise, status for season opener uncertain
George hurt his left knee in a preseason game on Monday night
    By Sam Quinn

The Philadelphia 76ers spent the past year positioning themselves to sign Paul George. The idea was to give themselves a three-star core with Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey that would not only fit well together as a group, but would provide a bit of insurance against future injuries. Well, the regular season hasn't even started yet and an injury has already occurred. On Monday, the 76ers faced the Atlanta Hawks in a preseason game, George's second thus far in Philadelphia. In the second quarter, though, George exited the game after suffering a knee injury.

He was defending Jalen Johnson in the paint when Johnson gave him a little push to the chest. He lost the ball in doing so, though, and as George reacted, he fell to the ground in pain. He was quickly ruled out for the night. The initial diagnosis was a hyperextended knee. On Tuesday, the 76ers said that George has a bone bruise in his left knee with no structural damage and will be re-evaluated in approximately one week.

This mentality is why Morey always failed at building a contender.

Always star chasing and dropping assets left and right on insane gambles.
