Back online. Man, that’s was kind of a wild ride. Can’t believe I watched this storm for like two weeks and then my house ends up just to the right of the eye wall. No severe damage, but it seemed like it took forever for the storm to pass. I’ve been through a bunch of these storms, this was pretty rough. Neighborhood looks pretty torn up with trees and fences askew. Can’t believe this hit in early July. Hurricane season has just barely started. I hope we’ve met our quota for the year.

There was an HPD employee that I read about who drowned in his car after the waters overtook him in an underpass Downtown or something. He wasn't an officer, though.
I also have a powerline down in my yard due to a broken tree limb. Were you able to reach someone at Centerpoint to report it?
Sugarland is still without power since 7am monday. They usually get power to my area pretty quickly during disasters -- we weren't lucky this time. Direct hit from Beryl and the crib is still standing with minimal damage, thankful for that. didn't know Sugarland doesn't have many cell towers; I gotta travel a couple miles outside the house to even get a call out or even browse the net for news. Very annoying. the Whataburger line is all the way out to 59. Lol
Luckily my people in Houston are all okay but some still without power and that's since 6am yesterday. Currently huddled up at one of the fam's house who has electricity. What sucks about all these outtages and flooding is a lot of it could have been mitigated with better planning. Sure it would have meant a more expensive Houston but these hidden costs of losing half the items in your refrigerator due to power outtages or constant home/lawn repairs is wild. The PTSD from storms is high in Houston right now
Glad to hear casualties were very few and hope recovery goes well. I haven’t seen any word on major home losses so while this was a hit by a hurricane on a major metro it sounds like it was better than the days of rain from Harvey.
Finally got (very slow) cell internet back this morning. We got lucky in the friends-hood, big branch came down in the front yard from our big pine tree. Neighbor had a massive branch that came down in the street. Lots of fences down. Drove around and saw several trees down. 2.265m?!? ****ing Erocot. Why cant they get their **** straight? Yeah, she hit way harder than anyone was anticipating, mostly because the models were shite and nobody really thought we were going to get hit to begin anyway. It’s a good wake up call to be ready. I’ll admit I was complacent and didn’t do anything to prep. No fuel for my genny, I stil haven’t set it up with a natural gas line or power box connection. My wife got the back yard ready because I couldn’t be bothered Sunday. Stupid. Much like professional fighting, even the little guys can pack a big punch. Glad y’all are safe.
Preparation is always important. Every person no matter where you live in America should be prepared for disasters for a situation where you can lose power for an extended period of time and not be able to travel.
Only in Houston where random sections /town district has power and others don’t. Htown slab city, heat rise a plenty!
