Welcome to social media, KD, but I agree with you. lol.

"[My Favorite Player] averaged 93% on PBAM and 16% on plays where BIMP was over 3% last season. He shot 74% on plays when the defender's DABM was over 2.3. THAT'S IN THE TOP 1% OF ALL NBA PLAYERS!!!! THAT'S ELITE!!!!"

Durant is so much older than the young core until it just doesn’t make since.

KD is still a great player, but the team is not ready to compete, much less if it gives significant assets. By the time the Rockets would be ready KD would be too old to help out.

At this point do we just have to assume that Woj and Shams rumors are total BS because so often their reports are just gifts to one of their sources, agents and GMs and such?

I mean, I know those two are the guys, first to the scene most of the time. But they do so many favors it's hard to know what's real and what's bs

So are Jeff Green and Boban.

I never really get this "we don't need to be good now because we're virtually assured to organically be better later'

    1) nothing is really ever that certain

    2) Kevin Durant - even at this age - is still as good or better than any player on the Rockets until proven otherwise. Put him in for Jabari or Dillon last year and the Rockets probably win 50 games.

If the price is right, just get him

The Pistons just hired him a month or so ago. He had ties to Monty Williams. So they hired him and fired Monty less than a week later. lol. I'm sure that was a coincidence.

    Prospective
Clean up the big man depth and replace the starting small forward (that is our longest contract) with a first ballot fall of fame player. Let the youth see how works being around an all world player. We are better than last years record and still finishing at 500. Green was horrible most of the year not even being able to finish games. (Yet started the next game. How can that not cost us some games and team chemistry?). With leadership and identity KD brings, we will start to achieve our objectives because we will have a focal point to playoff of. More than one of our youngsters will receive league wide recognition and become our next superstar as KD moves on from us. (Next team or retirement).
    KD 51.1M
    ..for…
Brooks, Adams, Landele and Tate everyone less Brooks is expiring or team options. Their picks (some) 50.4M

note keeping FVV on more season is a must.

Fred, Kevin and kids. -> 50+ wins and second round or more in the playoffs. Our team is really good even without KD. All the shooting we acquired, quicker heat check of Green, Dillon gone (last half of the season was bad), healthy Eason & Sengun and very one maturing another season. KD only makes us even better. I think there is a possibility for a championship and more.

The Phoenix picks are golden. They should not expend them on someone Durant’s age. It would be nice this year and we would certainly make the playoffs if Durant stayed healthy. Booker is the target. We should just be pulling for Phoenix to absolutely suck this year so they are motivated to move Booker for all their picks and filler or FVV. They could then flip FVV as an expiring the following year. They could do it this year for FVV and the picks, but not likely.

    Hypothetical but…

You guys don’t feel like we could compete for a title in KD’s SECOND season here? We’d have built up some chemistry, the kids would be mostly grown up and KD could be the perfect 3rd piece on a championship team led by Udoka.

That’s if Green and Sengun are ready to be #1 and #2. Jabari, Amen or Cam could be ready by then too. I think this core is going to shock a lot of people next season.

KD is not the most ideal fit but could work imo.

The big if in that is health. He was healthy last year. Can he play 70+ games the next 2 years? If so, he would help us compete for a championship. He shouldn’t be playing for team USA which is going to put even more wear and tear on him. I just don’t think it’s worth the gamble. I outlined who I thought we should go for 1 or 2 years down the line in Booker or Giannis. If not them, just grow organically.

Kd’s number of games played 5 seasons prior to last year:
    47, 8, 39, 55, 35. It is too big a gamble!

I'd take him for Jalen, Brooks, filler.

IMO it’s now or never. KD’s health is perfect for a team that is rebuilding and needs improvement from younger players playing. I am more than okay with him mentoring and staying off the court AS LONG AS HE THERE WHEN NEEDED. His role is to be the focal point till one of the kids can. Marketing in many ways. His presence will get us exposure. We will be playing on the networks for all to see. We need growth from the youth and world to see it. All star voting and the heads talking about out kids. KD is just a tool to get us there.

When we get there, FVV is solid stable and important part of the team. Keeping Fred can only happen one more season because after that we need to start paying the kids.

Keeping KG can only happen 2 more seasons because we will need to pay the kids. AND he will had already done his job of getting our team national exposure.

You may think it’s an overpay to bring in KD but the league is so much more than just basketball and this is missing piece.

You're just cherry picking data, BIMP over 3% only even happens in like 8% of games. I just checked and his PBAM is well below league average when BIMP is at 2% or lower. Besides PBAM and BIMP don't even apply to the modern NBA. Most analytics departments are now using an adjusted PIMP value since it accounts for the best nearby players.
