Thank you. Although I have to say that I've seen some of your "brilliant" posts in the past that are truly troll-like that typify this administration.

happy to have you dive right in, and if you've seen some of my past posts, i'm sure you've also seen others who can make their anti-bush points in concise, articulate, civil tones. check out chuckbrownfanclub for a shining example.

I find it strange that the people who back Cheney carry on as if this didn't exist. Somehow the fact that CIA officers are saying this guy blew up school children, and a movie cinema don't way into the fact that Cheney is defending the knucklehead.

If I am not mistaken he was not our choice, he was a choice of several Iraqis to lead.

I believe he was our choice. We made the effort of running it by some people who are also in our pocket, but the decisions was indeed ours, if I'm not mistaken.

The Iraqi governing council chose him, in theory. The US chose the governing council, so it is likely a mutual decision between all parties. Of course, the US put him on the council to begin with and knew at the time Allawi was a state sponsered terrorist.

It was sickening to watch the ABC Nighlty News and see Allawi paraded around as the "Prime Minsinster" of Iraq. Why does the "liberal media" withhold info about his terrorist background and lack of support in Iraq?

    It is iresponsible.

Interesting comparison. My question is, since members of the current administration (i.e. Dick Cheney) openly denounced Mandela in the 1980's, why are we supporting a man that is supposedly similar? Dick Cheney voted on numerous times against imposing sanctions on apartheid South Africa and was vehemently against freeing Mandela because of his terrorist ties. If Cheney was against Mandela because of his terrorist past, why is Allawi our buddy?

By the way, Illawi is no Mandela. Mandela was the legitimately recognized leader of the black majority of South Africa. The overwhelming majority of Blacks in South Africa considered Mandela their leader. Mandela used terrorist activities to procure human rights for Blacks. He fought fire with fire. Illawi's motives were not to help Iraq or its people. As a matter of fact, Illawi and Saddam were buddies for quite some time.

Mandela and Illawi are as different as night and day.

because the state in Allawi's state sponsered terrorism was the US. Thus, Allawi was a "good" American sponsered terrorist. Does that clear it up for you?

The sad thing is that you are right. That's exactly what it is. So terrorism and killing innocent is okay, as long as it furthers our interests. That was our rationale when we supported Saddam against the Ayatollah and when we supported the Taliban against the Russians.
