It's the angle where the same amount of force is being applied both upwards and lenghwise, which results in no wasted force upward but with enough height for the shot to not be prematurely brought down to earth by gravity. It's also the ideal angle for the ball to enter the rim, in terms of area. Too flat, and there's a very narrow area where the ball can enter the rim without hitting the front or the back of the rim and prevent it's entry. Too high-arching, and you'll use a ton of force trying to get the ball all the way to the rim, and using too much force takes away your soft touch. Coming in at too high an angle also makes any contact with the rim more likely to launch the ball away, lowing the margin of error again.
Sheppards arc is probably the most comparable to Klays due to their forms being similar. Reed will never have the arc and range of Curry because Curry is a freak of nature and he shoots it almost from his chest at lightning speed too.
Don't know if these were posted but they were new to me : Jared McCain video getting bombed by Reed commenting on McCain's choice of fashion : I busted out laughing at the end of this video of Dillingham. Reed & family aren't kidding about serving the community and others. Dang :
For the nerds (like Reed Sheppard, who are listening to the data), here's a nice piece with analytic support from the NOAH people.
Sheppard is on a better team than most of those guys, he’s going to get fewer minutes than many of them. I don’t think it’s really fair to compare. We’re going to develop him in a winning culture, takes longer but works better imo. I think if he were playing for the Spurs or Wizards he would have a legit shot at winning ROTY. That 3PT shot is legit.
I don’t see any attributes that Steve has and Reed doesn’t outside experience. This video is a player at who knows what it means to achieve your lifetime goal of being the greatest version of yourself on the court. Reed’s dad said that is Reed’s goal and if we see that I think he will be better than Nash. That isn’t happening in the next few years but let’s enjoy the ride. One thing I don’t understand is why nobody talks about Reed’s rebounding, rebounding is usually a translatable skill at every level. If Reed can rebound anywhere close to his college rate with him and Amen on the court we will have an amazing rebounding back court.
