Both of those guys shoot a higher volume of threes compared to Bari. If he shoots that many threes with their percentages that would be great. If his volume stays the same then he has to shoot 40%.
in his rookie year he was 30% and leaped to 36% last year and even he doesn't reach 40% this year I think 38-39% is pretty good for a 3rd year big
Agreed, he needs to continue to get better. It does help that he's a power forward. Average 3P% for a power forward is 35.7% and average 3PA is only 2.7. One of the reasons I want to keep him at the 4, having a power forward who can shoot is really important these days
KD is arguably the best ever at these particular moves. No one is going to look as smooth as him doing this. Great to see Jabari finding a way to workout with some amazing people. It's going to elevate his game. I think it's very possible we see him shoot 38% on 3's on 7+ attempts next season along with very good defense. He's a hard worker and sets a very high standard for himself. I wouldn't bet against him.
That was awesome! Best shooting session I've seen in years. Jabari is a very talented shooter. Sheppard should be a good influence on his game and those two could be the Curry and Klay we've been looking for when it comes down to it. The fact that Whitmore is already a good 3 pt shooter and will get better puts 3 guys on the team that should be shooting 38%+ consistently.
I wonder if that shooting session was setup as a favor for Udoka and Ivey since they are good friends with Durant.
Form is nearly identical, but you can tell that Kevin is not thinking at all and is a half step quicker on his moves. Good to see Jabari working on his handles which is the biggest difference with KD.
People really ready to give up on Jabari and he just turned 21. He's two years younger than Dalton Knecht.
I think Cam will be a good 3 pt shooter, but he is not league average yet. He was a better 3 pt shooter than most 19 year olds playing in the NBA for the first time. That is a very good sign.
He shot right at 36% for the year (35.9% to be exact). Even if just he gets marginally better this year, he's shooting 38%. That's a good shooter and someone you must cover while he's on the court. If you have Jabari, Cam and Reed on the court with Alpi and Fred, that's going to relieve a lot of pressure on Alpi's game and he's going to roll over nearly anyone 1 on 1. Could see him averaging 25 a game efficiently this year or next.
If Jabari can’t hit the 3 at 40%+ he’s just another tall role player. That was supposed to be his elite skill. He is a stiff athletically. He’d be my first one to trade for a star out of our young core because if that shot doesn’t develop he just isn’t elite at anything else.
Here's a video of Jabari in an open run.. It feels like he's holding back on defense, as I'd have expected him to swat about every shot the smaller guards pulled on him. I'm sure he's just trying not to get injured.
Cam was not as great a shooter in college as Reed and Jabari were. Some people say that's because he was injured. That might be true. He was red hot out of the gate last season, but dropped off in the second half of the season. Let's hope that the average was his real form and will continue to improve.
Do you know how happy I am to see this This is the perfect mentor to develop his game, Jabari taking initiative in the offseason to add something new to his skill set and work on his athleticism. Love to see it
Cam had a bad stretch of 8-10 games towards the end of the year, but he seemed to be about 34-35% most of the time before and after that stretch besides for a hot run early. Needs to be a bit better to be a good shooter, but he shoots a lot. If he ups the 3 point percentage to the 40% range, he's going to be scoring 10 ppg just from behind the arc.
The thing with Cam's shooting is he's actually had pretty good 3pt C&S numbers in college (~40% I think) and the NBA this past season (42.8% on 2.9 attempts per game). His problem is he just jacks up these incredibly difficult pull up 3s (23.5% on 1.9 attempts per game in NBA). If he develops into a #1 scoring option, that number will need to improve quite a bit, but if he cuts those out and mostly sticks to C&S 3pt shots, he could probably be around 40% I think? Probably decent volume if he got the minutes. His shot was a bit slow in college IIRC, but I think he did improve that a bit in the NBA, so yes I think he'd probably have good shooting gravity in that role (plus good gravity in general with his scoring ability). As with many things with Cam, he's super talented and skilled, and it is mostly a matter of making sure he has the IQ and feel to make the right plays. That's what will elevate his game. Sorry for the tangent. I know this is a Jabari thread. Don't really have much to add there that hasn't been said. I'm a bit harsher on Jabari than most (and I don't particularly care for his mid-range stuff), but it is good to see him working on his game. As with most guys on the team, he seems to work pretty hard. This will be an important year for him, and I'm excited to see his improvements.
