I like Cam a lot too but tunnel vision is not his only issue. He has below average handles and defense. He also doesn’t do the little things to win games. That’s why Amen gets more playing time than he does because Ime trust him to do all those little things that win you games.
Haha it's comical when you realise that Jalen's only redeeming quality right now is his elite athleticism. And Cam just says hold my beer in that regard. Amen and Cam. SHEESH.
An underrated part of Cam's game is his movement without the ball. In games I watched last year, he tried numerous times to cut to the basket, but for a variety of reasons didn't get the ball. I'm hopeful that our offense is expanded and we see more cutting and passing incorporated. If this occurs, Cam should get more easy finishes. While I agree with many of you on Cam needing a lot of work on his overall game, he's the youngest of our core and will have had the a full offseason of working with pros and pro trainers. I expect him to surprise us in a very good way this next season.
I think Cam is going to be better this year, but unless they unload Brooks he is not going to get the minutes he needs to make a huge leap.
Judging by the offseason videos Cam/Jabari are putting up, they know what the requirements are. If Cam shows enough next year then there's a chance Dillon gets dealt at the deadline. This team needs to transition to the real team sooner rather than later, even if it means taking a few more Ls because they're still learning. Towards the end of the year I don't think it was even beneficial to start Dillon over Amen if the team was fully healthy. He was a step slow on defense, had a lot of reckless closeouts and was shooting like 30% from 3 after the ASB. Cam needs to take some major strides this year conceptually. I'm expecting small improvements but nothing major. Maybe 16 PPG or something off the bench.
I keep waiting for a Brandon Roy like knee situation with the injury rumor that dropped him in the draft. If not he is a special athlete with a dominant mental toughness. He isn’t backing down from anyone. If he stays healthy he will be an all star. He’s got that it factor.
Let's hope it is like DMo's back injury, that they used to screw him over - now 12 years or so later he is still playing.... DD
FINALLY! Somebody with some PATIENCE and PERSPECTIVE. I have been saying this all along, this group is too young to form an opinion. The only one you can half way summarize is Sengun and thats only becasue he has been playing professionally since he was a teenager, the others are products of AAU Basketball. And for anyone to say Cam or Jalen is a 6th man at this point in their careers, well we just have to ignore them. I mean, come on, Cam was 19 yrs old last yr. 19!! Jabari was 20 yrs old and Jalen was 21, 22? These are college kids. When I look back, Clyde Drexler was 21 when he got drafted, roughly the same age as Jalen last yr and he left UH early. Portland was trying to trade him because they thought he had no idea who to play and a broken jump shot. But he later became the FACE OF THEIR FRANCHISE. So, all of the people who have predetermined roles for these players......CALM THE HELL DOWN!
