Brooks is a useful player on a reasonable contract - it's a declining deal too. You could move him without attaching assets if you wanted to make cap space. You could probably get a #1 pick from a playoff team for him. Lavine's contract is one of the leagues worst for the next 3 years. You aint moving that contract without attaching significant assets. They can't move it.
LMAOOOOO. Great pick by us for sure but Reed Sheppard will never reach Ja, Shai, Luka, Ant, Kyrie, Booker, Curry level….
I like Brooks for Jaden Ivey. The fans have given up on him, dunno how the front office feels... but it saves us cash and if we let Jalen go at years end, we have another guy to plug in behind Cam or Amen. I'd even attach a weak future draft pick.
I want to give Jalen Green every chance to earn a big contract with us. He showed real improvements in areas of his game other than scoring last season, and he had month he went nuclear. First year under a real coach.... he could still be that guy, and he has one year to prove it to us. Brooks, as solid as he was with us, and that is probably underselling the culture change he helped bring... is who he is... a plus defender, and a streaky shooter. We've got 3 guys behind him that need the minutes, minutes behind Jalen Green get tighter with Sheppard. With or without Brooks, we'll be pushing for a play in spot or sneak in the back door of the playoffs. We aren't winning a championship. One or more of our young guys MUST make another big leap for us to move to contender status... and it'll be hard to do that with Brooks eating 30min per game. Jalen Green is as likely as any of our young guys to make that leap. Unless you meant Jeff Green... in which case, ok, but that doesn't fix the problem of finding minutes for everyone.
Brooks gets disrespected like crazy..without him last year rockets would have like 30 wins .like they treat him like he can't play..smh,
Our offense was 1.1 pts better when he was off the court and our defense was 3.9 pts better when he was off the court. He sucked last season, just like he did the previous several seasons. He has no business being on the court for the rockets at this point. If you look at VORP, he was 17th on the rockets at -0.9, the next worst was tate at -0.1. WS/48 he was 16th (Jalen was SLIGHTLY worse). BPM he was 17th and by a good margin, 50% worse then Bullock who was 16th. He simply sucks because his offense makes him unplayable. It is what it is, it sucks he's on the team but there's nothing you can do about that now, just hope he doesn't play
It is somewhat of a paradox to viewers, but bad offense equals bad defense because it leads to transition opportunities for the other team. Transition plays have one of the highest PPP (points per possession) of any type of play. Brooks play has another negative in that he fouls a lot. Foul shots are the highest efficiency offensive play.
If you watch ball, you knew Luka was that guy lol. Listening to scouts is irrelevant if you’re a true fan of the game…
They have worked really hard to put Cade in the worst possible position to succeed. Who's better than Brooks at crushing your offense? Nobody. He's a perfect fit in detroit.
I don't know that they would, but I know the fan base wants to move on and I'd attach a future draft pick... though nothing huge. I think there will be a market at the deadline to move Brooks, and we move him then. I'd just like to get the best deal possible, even sending him to the Hornets for Bertans would be addition by subtraction.
