Harris running closer to Trump than Biden in new CNN poll https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/4752020-vice-president-harris-trump-biden-poll/
not surprising, to be honest. easier to vote for someone who is incompetent than one who is non compos mentis.
Biden throwing Kamala under the bus link should work for everyone https://www.wsj.com/articles/kamala...5ms2zih8rka&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink Who’s Afraid of Kamala Harris? Team Biden is trying to scare Democrats that the Vice President is the only alternative if the President drops out. By The Editorial Board July 2, 2024 at 5:47 pm ET We figured Republicans would try to make an issue of Kamala Harris’s fitness to be President, but who thought the Vice President would become central to the strategy to keep President Biden in the race? That seems to be a big part of the emerging Team Biden game plan to stem the Democratic panic about having Mr. Biden at the top of the ticket in November. The theme: Go with Joe or you’ll get Kamala. News reports this week say a Biden aide told donors their money would go to Ms. Harris if Mr. Biden dropped out. This was meant as a threat, not a promise. Various Democrats are also popping up in the press noting that much of the party’s base would revolt if Ms. Harris were denied the nomination. The suggestion is that the party base thinks the first woman of color on a national ticket has a birthright to move up to the top job, as opposed to the party choosing a candidate more likely to win. Our colleagues in the Journal news department headlined the post-Biden prospects this way on Tuesday: “Why Kamala Harris Would Be Biden’s Likeliest Replacement.” The story quoted the chairman of the Michigan Democratic Party Black Caucus as saying, “I would be angry if you try to leapfrog over a vice president.” Talk about a scare tactic. Who would have thought Mr. Biden chose a Vice President who would be so unpopular that she would be used as insurance against Mr. Biden being forced out of a second term? The irony that readers won’t miss is that Americans are likely to get Ms. Harris as President if Mr. Biden stays as the party nominee and somehow wins re-election. It’s hard to believe that the President Biden everyone saw last Thursday could serve four more years. Thursday’s debacle has liberated Democrats and diplomats to tell the press they’ve noticed more frequent episodes of Mr. Biden’s cognitive impairment. His deterioration may be fast or slow, but it will continue. The odds are high that at some point in his second term he’d resign as President, turning the White House over to Vice President Harris. In that scenario she’d get the job by default, rather than having to earn it herself with the respect that comes from having beaten competitors for the job. That’s what she’d have to do now if Mr. Biden announced he won’t seek re-election. It’s a more honorable way to proceed than trying to scare Democrats that it’s the Biden way or the Harris highway. We already had a primary, which Biden won handily. If Biden isn't the nominee, there's no argument to hand it to Newsom or Whitmer or any of the other supposed heavyweights that didn't even run. The only choice with any legitimacy is Biden's chosen successor Kamala Harris. This country is such a shitshow. Trump kinda has a gun to our heads, so I suppose I'll end up voting for whomever the Dems put up. But once this cycle is done, there's going to be a reckoning in the Democratic party.
I think the issue is Trump and the big corrupt money that backs him has a gun to the head and are pulling the trigger, and the Democratic party heads including Biden, act as though there are no bullets in the gun. Meaning they don't seem to understand that Trump and co. have thrown out the rule book, and are themselves delusional in their blind faith in the rules that nobody else follows but them. However it's not the fault of "The Democratic Party" if Trump wins and we no longer have any semblance of a Democracy, but I do think Americans will certainly point the finger at the weakness of Democrats like Joe Biden to not take Trump & MAGA seriously, and slept walk through this perilous moment in our history. It's like blaming other countries for Putin invading Ukraine. Obviously its Trump and MAGA that took brazen action to overturn our Democracy, and on the voters who supported this fascist movement.
The majority of polled people would have a bigger problem voting for an aging Biden than a criminal trump. That sort of thinking is the trigger on the gun held to our head. So after trump wins and whatever happens to the country over the next four years, we can already look to 2028. Harris will be pushed aside for other candidates. Whether its Whitmer ("can't vote for her, she is a woman"), Buttigieg ("can't vote for him, he is gay"), or someone else that bubbles up ("can't vote him/her, he/she is an unknown").
It must have hurt you a lot by raising the white flag? Nothing will happen the next 4 years if Trump wins except for peace and prosperity. I and along with millions other Americans were doing very well under his first term.
Woke people say they love Kamala and Joe but in real life wouldn’t have them teach 4th grade English @basso @Salvy
The shitshow is Dem voters not voting in their primary to replace the guy everyone could clearly see was braindead. Dem voters are to blame for this and nobody else. They ignored their eyes.
Remember the last time he was President? The capital came under attack. Wonderful times if you are a Trump supporter I suppose.
Sure, that's part of it. I was willing to gamble on Biden holding it together long enough to get through the next election. That's looking like a losing bet. As people had warned, when geriatrics decline, it can be precipitous. And, I think what we saw at the debate was worse than the gotcha videos from when primary season kicked off. Guess it's on me to be hoping for the best instead of preparing for the worst. The other half of it, of course, is Trump coming back. The insiders seem to have outsized power in both parties, grabbing nominations despite significant misgivings in the electorate. That both were running kinda locked us in. Dems didn't want to drop an incumbency advantage with Trump threatening. And Republicans probably had no realistic hope of any candidate but Trump winning against a sitting president -- now with hindsight, likely many could have against a president with dementia concerns. If Nikki Haley was running right now, I'd be okay if she won out. But the shitshow is because both candidates are looking like dangerous options, not just the Democrat.
@Commodore @Salvy It’s like they saw a dude wearing a dress And kept calling her a girl Then got mad when he pulled her panties down and got sausage woke culture is denial of reality
Kamala understands her audience. "Explain it to me like I am 5". She fully understands her party supporters have the attention span of a child.
