What an absurd argument... and it reflects that you clearly have not read today's SCOTUS opinions. Scare tactics are usually a sign of a losing argument -- they certainly are here.

Sotomayor brought up political assassinations in her dissent. It’s the obvious conclusion to granting the president emperor powers. You are obviously not bright enough to envision possible scenarios.

After reading this thread, I have come to the conclusion I have experienced 6 constitutional crisis's.

    1980 - Reagan elected
    1984 - Raegan reelected
    1992 - Bush Elected
    2000 - Bush Elected
    2004 - Bush Relected
    2016 - Trump Elected

This is even clever by your sad standards. And plenty of people here voted for the Bushes and Reagan, myself included. Somehow you are unable or unwilling to understand how Trump is far far worse.

How do you say complete and total immunity without saying it?

I am sure the roberts maga court will somehow find trump immune from that too... certainly no exceptions were made for felons and rapists...

I do understand Trump is worse. And Jr was worse than Sr.

Just as Biden is worse than Obama.

Lets not pretend this trend is unique to one side.

I don't care if Biden is a fossil or a corpse. Anything is better than having a narcissistic con-man as Dictator/King.

I hope everyone stands up to vote and ensure Trump is never in power again. I think MAGAs underestimate how much of a minority they truly are. What are they, 30-35%? Non-MAGAs outnumber MAGA by 2 to 1.

The rest of the country (liberals and moderates) needs to put aside their differences and come together. If we do, we will win. Democracy is a stake.

I think he wrote the hush money check (or reimbursed it) while he was POTUS. He also tweeted about that while he was POTUS. But of course, those are clearly not official acts. But of course, he will claim they are. Some judges will rule against him, and then he can appeal all the way to the Supreme Court (or MAGA court, as that's not unfair anymore). And the MAGA court will rule as it pleases.

"Yet his lawyers are likely to argue that prosecutors built their case partly on evidence from his time in the White House. And under the Supreme Court’s new ruling, prosecutors not only may not charge a president for any official acts, but also cannot cite evidence involving official acts to bolster other accusations."

Oh, I have no doubt that every trump crime and indictment will be sponged clear by the this radical ruling from this maga supreme court.

I know the absolute (or near-absolute, but it is absolute) immunity for official acts is the crazy story that has gotten everyone's attention, but this part is just so nonsensical:

under the Supreme Court’s new ruling, prosecutors not only may not charge a president for any official acts, but also cannot cite evidence involving official acts to bolster other accusations.

I seriously doubt any of the dem posters actually believe their 'the president is immune to kill anyone' nonsense. They are just desperate to talk about and have news cycle talk about something other than the debate.

This god awful take seems cordinated

Much like the Chevron case, I must admit I know little about this ruling to make an expert opinion. As usual, I will defer to our usual experts on everything.

That said, like the Chevron case, this seems to be much ado about nothing. People in power and stature are not held accountable to the same standards as the commoners.

President's started wars and occupied foreign countries for almost 20 years. Congress blatantly inside trades day in and day out. Bankers burned the economy to the ground. We could go on forever how the elite continue to operate outside the law unchecked.

And some goomba on the supreme court is afraid Trump is going to assasinate his political rival.
What is really going to bake your noodle is when you find out Trump instilled his dictatorship back in 2016 and Biden is his scret little puppet with dementia. The 1000 year Reich has yet to begin.

    Be afraid. Be very afraid.
