So you expect a guy that can't play in summer league to be able to handle the NBA? Just another random designed to save the Suns half a billion dollars. Suns get their Rocket owned picks and swaps back and save half a billion dollars. Rockets get Durant Pistons get Brooks and Adams, plus 2031 31-54 protected SRP from Phoenix Edit: Detroit probably needs a little something else to use up cap space.
Bulls are trying to attach assets to trade Lavine. I question his health and I certainly wouldn’t want to pay him 3 more years at $45 mil. But assuming the medical checks out, there is a point where I’d say yes. Rockets out: Dillon Brooks - $22 Landale - $8 Tate - $7.5 Jeff Green - $8 Chicago out: Zach Lavine - $43 Chicago 2026 1st Chicago 2028 or 2030 1st
I think the desperation to trade Zach LaVine with absolutely no one interested even with a first round pick thrown in shows what would happen if the Rockets gave Jalen Green a max extension who is effectively a poor man's Zach LaVine....that would pay more than what LeVine makes per season. Also, I would want nothing to do with LaVine in any trade.....just like the rest of the NBA.
2 picks might be greedy.... maybe a pick & a swap? Edit: nevermind, I thought it was 2 more years, not 3. Might have to be 2 picks... lol Also, take Uncle Jeff out. Interesting idea tho!
To take on Lavine I'd need Coby White, two unprotected firsts and a pick swap. I'd throw in FVV to make the salaries match.
We are set on draft picks. You can’t screw up our salary cap flexibility for crap like Lavine. This is something tanking teams should do like Washington and the Nets since they will suck for the next 3 years anyway.
I don't believe Chicago will be able to unload LaVine without attaching some major assets. I think their best bet is to hope he can fit with White and Giddey.
With teams asking for more and more picks these days for star/borderline star players, it will be good to have extra picks in the cupboard when we inevitably have to trade 4-5 picks for a star.
Yes but not taking on sh*t like lavine. He has close to the worst contract in the league. Trade brooks for future first. Adams at the deadline if landale is still playing well. Just no reason to take that kind of trade right now. Morey never hangs on to picks and Brooks would fit well there.
You wouldn’t do the trade proposed here? Brooks is 22 a year of fully dead money, zach is 45 at likely dead money. With lavine though there’s a chance he could get healthy and rebound, and you could trade him in a year for positive value. If the bulls are willing to give an unprotected pick i’m doing this
Even a better version of Jalen Green is still an awful player. I do want to dump Brooks, but I don't want to take back an even worse contract.
If Lavine would convert the player option to a team option with a 10 million buyout maybe? Id be aiming to get a premium draft asset. Brooks+Landale+Jalen Green (they get to build around him) for Lavine(modifies player option) unprotected 2026 and 2031?
Comparing Jalen Green to Zach Lavine is just lazy, uber athletic guy who can (somewhat) shoot. the comps end there. Jalen has shown more defensive potential than Zach ever has. Jalen has shown decent playmaking ability. From what I've watched, Jalen is pretty good at moving without the ball as well while Zach seems to kinda die when the ball isn't in his hands. Also, a healthy Zach Lavine was pretty good, did we forget? His injuries really affected the perception about him and rightfully so.
I agree he sucks, but if you're getting substantial draft capitol for it AND dumping 66 mil of much worse money, i'm doing it
