Kind of yawning at most of the rumored Rockets FA & trade targets out there right now. Don’t make a move just to make a move
The Lakers are wanting to clear some cap space. They were hoping D Russell was going to decline his option at 18M to enter FA, but he didn't. I wonder if they'd consider this deal.. J Londale 1 yr @ 8M J Tate Team Option Future 1st (expect it to be LATE 1st ) For D Russell J Hood-Schifino By waiving Tate they could clear 14.5M. They'd have a better back up big for 1 yr and then could waive him next year to clear 8M more. Russell could back up both guard spots before he hits FA next year. He averaged 18/3/6 with a 58 TS% and 41% from 3. Averages 6 assists to just 2 TO's. Could be a very nice 1 yr rental. Would give Reed some time to come up to speed. Hood-Schifino is a nice prospect. Was buried on the bench in LA so they sent him to the G where he averaged 22/5/5. I know it's the G, but the biggest take away was how much he had improved from 3. Shot 43% from the arc and an overall 63 TS%. High IQ with good size and great vision. Would be a nice add. VV, DLo, Reed JG, Cam, JHS DB, Amen Bari, Tari, Uncle Jeff Alp, Adams I'd roll with that roster. With expected growth from the core young guys, that's a definite playoff team. Possibly deep into them.
I like your logic, but not a fan of DLo. So to hijack your scenario (apologies)... 3 way deal... HOU - LAL - ORL ORL: Brooks (HOU) + DLo (LAL) + HOU 2027 FRP (top 5 protected) LAL: Tate (HOU) + Landale (HOU) HOU: Isaac (ORL) Clears up some cap room & minutes. Plus more promising 3&D in Isaac than Brooks. DLo not blocking Shep for minutes.
Not big on this scenario. Isaac's a 4 and they're set there with Bari and Tari. Plus I do not think a back up big who averaged 7/4/0 this year is anywhere near worth Brooks, Landale, Tate AND a 1st rd pick. Even with Hood-Schifino thrown in.
I brought the DLo situation up in another thread. I would not want to give them any draft picks. I'd want picks and/or swaps back from them in return.
i hear you.. but Isaac blocks shots and can lock down 2 - 5 (small ball 5's). And hits 3's at a decent clip (40* & 37.5% past 2 years... altho 40% season was cut short by injury). His per 36 last year was 15.5 pts, 10 bds, 4.5 stocks. Analytics loves him... if he could stay healthy (which is why I think he can be snagged). I think we need insurance across the board at our F & C spots because of injuries to Tari, Sengawd, & Adams. Of course, a player with his track record does come with certain risks... It looks like you're right about Lakers & DLo tho
you can now use it in trades to take salary onto your team if you don’t use it in free agency. New tweak in the CBA. I believe lots of teams will keep their MLE for trade flexibility, including Houston.
