Dubin's numbers are poor but he doesn't seem like the type of reliever who'd pass through waivers unscathed. Arm strength buys chances...
stock down because he's now a full-time reliever to go along with a ballooning walk rate, but this is nice to see, I suppose
Some good stuff last night. Whitley 2 scoreless innings. Sitting 97-98. Looks like he’s ditching the cutter and change up and focusing on his sinker and curve. He def needed to ditch the cutter as it was flat. 2 HRs for Zach Cole last night. Melton also had a HR and Dezenzo had a double. Nice outing from Tyler Guilfoil whose era is under 4 now. HR each from Logan Cerny and Luis Baez for Asheville last night. Cerny also stole his 18th base of the season. It’s such a shame he has such a strikeout problem because his ceiling is extremely high; excellent CF defensive, elite speed/power combo. Chase Jaworsky hit 2 doubles last night after having a week off. Nehomar Ochoa and Victor Diaz both hit a HR. That’s Ochoa’s 4th HR in June. Jancel Villarroel had 3 walks and is off to a fantastic start in A ball. Thru 40 pa he has a 16% walk rate against an 11% k rate. He also has 3 steals. A long way to go before the sample size is big enough to draw conclusions but he’s definitely worth tracking.
Cerny has about a full season’s worth of pa (~580) in High A and has 23 HR and 38 SB at that level. It’s just too bad his k rate has been 35% during that time.
MiLB has him listed as 1B, but he's a catching prospect? Either way, a good hitting 1B/C prospect? Sign me up.
Jose Guedez has looked somewhat shaky in his last couple of outings for Asheville. He only allowed two hits today in Bowling Green, but they both resulted in runs. He gave up a two-run homer and an RBI double. Guedez walked three, struck out seven, hit three batters, and was also called for a balk in his 3.1 innings. Asheville and Bowling Green are tied at 3 in the bottom of the 4th inning. Bowling Green had two men on when play was suspended due to rain and they both belong to Guedez.
Engel Daniel Peralta's first two appearances for Fayetteville both lasted 3.2 innings. The first one was a relief appearance on Tuesday and he allowed two runs on four hits (solo homer), walked three, and struck out four. Today, he got the start and also allowed two runs, but on three hits (also allowed a solo homer), walked three, and struck out seven.
