I'm not sure I see what LA is getting out of that. I'd go with something more aggressive. HOU: FVV+Jalen Green+Jeff Green for LAL: Russell+Rui+Reaves+Knecht LA gets an upgrade over Russell at PG, a potential long-term upgrade over Reaves and a cheaper replacement for Rui. They keep all of their picks and nobody in the trade is guaranteed money beyond the coming year. This gives them a lot of flexibility in '25 while still improving the team for the coming year. Losing FVV would be hard, but we are still getting an experieced player to take over the reigns for what was likely going to be FVV's final year, anyway. Reaves is locked in for at least half of what Jalen will command and is currently the better player. Rui is essentially filler in the trade, but is nice insurance if Tari or Jabari goes down. They might be able to flip him immediately or trade later in the season or next offseason. Knecht takes the place of a pick, but actually has monetary value that allows the Lakers to trim some money off their cap. And I'm sure the Rockets board had him rated higher than #17.
yeah but he’s an old 30. Not a ton of tread on those tires. I believe he came into the league super young. I’m skeptical of his health going forward. Hope I’m wrong.
I'm only assuming he'll be able to give us ~15mpg for one season. I think there's a very good chance he'll be fine for that kind of role. We're going to need to find another backup center soon, though.
Fun fact: Adams was selected by OKC with the TOR draft pick that the Rox traded to OKC for (drum roll).... James Harden.
I wonder what the market value for Buddy Hield will be. He didn't have the best run in Philly which will bring it down some. Should be in their price range. Would be another solid vet addition. Another great shooter would be nice.
Somebody was asking about Uncle Jeff (Hoya Saxa).... looks like his option was picked up (according to the NBA) https://www.nba.com/news/2024-free-agency-options-and-qualifying-offers Also... interesting names on this list: - Isaiah Joe :eyes emoji: (as much $$$ as OKC has, I expect/ed him back in OKC) - Jalen Smith (obvi) - Luke Kennard - TyTy Washington I'm just kidding about TyTy
Yes by starting Amen and letting Cam and Tari come off the bench. There is absolutely no reason to trade for a small forward.
Here is a question for all of you who want to add a player via FA or trade for one. What player(s) currently in the expected rotation do you want to move? Most folks seem to want to keep the core 6. Reed is not going anywhere. and FVV and Dillion are our only vets. So who goes? While in a vacuum, it seems we need shooting, it also seems that we want to keep everyone. Cant have one without the other. So ok, Dillion seems the number one target for this, but IDK if his value exceeds his contract. If not, who will want him? Maybe you have already decided Green needs to go. Again, what real value does he have? And then we have Landale, Tate, maybe Jeff Green and Holiday, who don't have a place. I suppose my point is, until we are ready to decide who should go, how can we acquire new guys?
Yuck. I watch almost every Laker Game and this trade is bad. Russell is soft as hell and wants to be treated like a star. I like Reeves but he disappears constantly and isn’t as good as Jalen. If the Rockets wanted Knecht they could’ve just drafted him. They gladly passed. FVV is the best player in the trade and you just gave him away. Jabari & Tari are better than Rui, who disappears more than Reeves does & is also a finesse big. The Laker players are super overrated. No Bron or AD and that’s a 20 win basketball team.
Yea that was a really bad trade. FVV ain’t going anywhere this year and he shouldn’t be. Amen is not ready for PG, but he will be as early as next year. Including Jalen in a package would get better return than that. Unless an incredible deal comes along, the Rockets should just stand pat or get an insurance vet like Beasley or Brogdon on the cheap. I’m afraid Beasley’s going to sign for more than the MLE however. Brooks needs to be traded. Brogdon would match his salary but we might have to give up a FRP (highly protected) to make it worth it for Washington. Brogdon would be off the books next year and could provide Jalen insurance.
