Yea, that's the trick. You get picks for a team in a tough spot so they always have some value. Even if we don't get Booker, the Suns will have to give up some extra value to get their picks back.

But, unlike with Bridges, the Rockets would be willing to give up 1 or more young prospects in Booker trade. That's something most other teams wouldn't have to give or want to give.

Well, there are 2 extension eligible players on our roster and I’m not moving Sengun. Period.

a 6’9 245 bruiser would add even more to this squad.

cant wait till they tank and end up with the 5th pick lol. I think they’ll find that without a core player you can’t rebuild in just a couple seasons. If they get a Wemby sure it can happen faster, but how many Wemby’s are there? the flat lotto odds means they have to get really lucky ;)

There is no doubt that the Suns have VERY little assets going forward and very little ways to improve. They have some very high end players with Durant and Booker, and less so Beal - but they also are older and have limited depth.

There will be about a 40%ish chance they end up with a pick as good or better than what they gave the rockets this season. 60% they don’t. Good luck

I will say I will laugh if the Phoenix pick this season ends up better than the Brooklyn pick.

The rockets do in fact trade the Thunder pick for the Suns pick right?

Depends on a lot of factors. My guess right now is that the Rockets are better than the Clippers and the Thunder take the Clippers pick and not the Rockets pick. If that is the case, the Rockets would send Brooklyn the Rockets pick for the Suns pick (assuming Suns fall apart*).

I'm guessing Durant plays at least 20 games less than last season and Nurkic goes back to being a meh center. That would put Phoenix in the playin and possibly ending up in the lottery.

what did Einstein say about the definition of insanity? Repeating the same thing and expecting a different result. The Suns got a new coach but their team isn’t any better; it’s just a year older. They haven’t done anything significant to win more games next season; they’re just running it back. I don’t expect our 25’ swap with them to matter much, but they could be a lotto team in the west if Durant misses significant time.

I apologize in advance for being confused. How would it change if the clippers were better than the rockets?

    • 2025 right to swap their own first-round pick or the Thunder’s first-round pick for Phoenix’s first-round pick
From this it doesn't really matter. This should not be that confusing lol

OR if Booker misses time...or frankly if Beal misses significant time. The problem with their roster construction is it depends on at least two of those guys being top 25 players in every game to win games because they otherwise have no depth to weather injuries. It's the classic 'Big 3' problem if any of that core is aging or otherwise has an injury history. The Big 3s that worked didn't have injury problems, the Big 3s that didn't work all had injury problems. Teams like the Clippers have tried to time their injuries to get everyone healthy around the same time but the reality of that solution is often frought with peril.

So the Thunder have the right to swap picks with the Rockets if the Rockets pick is 11-30.
The Thunder also have the right to swap with the Clippers, unprotected, but can only do one or the other.
If the Clippers are worse than the Rockets, the Thunder will choose to swap for the Clippers pick.

Once that is settled, then the Rockets decide if they want to swap whatever pick they got from that mess for the Phoenix pick.

Beyond full. Someone tell me how Landale, Tate, Griffin or Jeff Green get any minutes? Maybe if some other guy gets injured or his game goes in the toilet.

I would wager a lot that their "BIG 3" doesn't start half the season together, 41 games...Durant is due to break down, and I certainly wouldn't count on Beal being healthy all year. Toss in the fact that these guys don't play well together...Plus, the Suns don't utliize Nurkic correctly. They're a mess without a way to improve. I'm saying we get Booker at the deadline or before depending on how healthy they are. They should sell off these guys and rebuild. Budenholzer will be a good guy to oversee that.

Most teams have a 9-10 man rotation. They expect to have 5 guys who should not expect to get any minutes. But you need them because there are always cases where players get injuries, players get illnesses, players get suspensions (in Brooks' case), players get aviophobia (in Royce White's case), players get bitten in the face by their coach's dog (in Kenny Thomas's case), and so on and so forth.
