I just looked it up, and Texas caps child support at just $2300 per child per month for two kids, this is nothing lol. So he is super lucky he is in Houston. For example if he were in California there is no cap on child support and a judge would decide based on his income, and he could end up paying millions a year. Over the course of 18 years for both kids combined he will pay less than a million dollars in Texas (or $27.6K a year per child), and this is likely a reduction to his income and tax deductible so after the tax benefit he is only losing like $500K over the course of of their life (or $14K per year per child), that is if he chooses not to support them beyond what he is legally liable for. It really is unbelievable that he essentially has discounted child care in the form of child support, a nanny in NY or CA would cost much more. I think this could be why so many NBA players use to make Houston home, because they use to have a lot of kids and weren't getting the kind of money players do now. Realistically the finanial impact should not even be a concern for Jalen. Not sure, i assume as long as he is able to prove his residence in Texas he should be fine, if he got traded or signed elsewhere then it could be reevaluated. I can see him keeping a home in texas and just saying this is still his home, I think it could vary state to state.
