It seems like if you have any commitments outside of the golf course it's nearly impossible to improve. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy playing, I just embrace how bad I am and appreciate being outside for a few hours.
Anyways, voters, governors, senators, donors, Barack Obama, George W. Bush (included because I believe he hates Donald Trump), and Bill Clinton need to tell the DNC to get with Jill Biden and get her to convince Joe to drop out. I have no appetite for it "being too late" because of the "rules" - one side doesn't respect the rules of this country anymore and you're going to throw your hands up and say "Well, it is what it is!"? That's utter insanity. Donald Trump could demand that Mar-a-Lago be considered the 51st state at the RNC and they'd bend over backward to print fake paper ballots with his name on it to satisfy him. I don't know anything about the way the French government works, but Emmanuel Macron can call for snap elections in response to European Parliament results. The British prime minister can call for snap elections. We trap our politics in amber for two to four years and pretend that it's sacrosanct. We have a chance now to nominate a viable, younger candidate who can win this election against a lunatic narcissist. Why the hell are we pretending that the DNC's rules matter at all?
Rules for thee, not for me is one of the DNC's new motto. I have said after Super Tuesday, Biden presents a very very difficult problem for the DNC. They either: -Keep Biden and lose miserably. This is probably their best choice and if I am a clear-minded brainwashed (oxymoron) straight ticket Democrat voter, this is what I want. The next 4 years is going to be difficult, regardless of who gets in office. Sometimes its best to sit out a round, take a break and let your opponent get beat up. This is the best all around decision. -Biden withdrawals his candidacy (most likely). Now the DNC looks like a bigger clown show with no direction. There will be a block of voters who will be disenchanted that they did not get a fair election, rightfully so. There will be a massive power struggle in the DNC that will result in discord when they are in a critical moment needing unity. -DNC coups Biden and puts in the best candidate. There will be no doubt that the modern DNC are authoritarian leftist who have no respect for rule of law (like they claim with their opponent) and truly have no respect for their constituents. Far left fellow authoritarians will support it because the people behind 'closed doors' knows whats best. -Alternatively in liberal fantasy land, Biden takes his 400th covid booster and it finally magically cures him, thus proving he was never in cognitive decline and he was suffering from long covid.
I wish the DNC was full of authoritarian leftists. It's full neo-liberals who just like the RNC care about their return on investment just without the fascism tinge. They believe solutions to things like wealth inequality are high markets just like Republicans. It's just they don't hate lgbtq people and migrants as much. You have. Very stupid views of our political spectrum in this country. You think the likes of Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton believe the solutions to society are through "collectivism" rather than "markets"
I'm not sure I agree. Primary voting is inherently flawed because it's a minority of voters that choose candidates with rules particular to each state. Voters are also dissatisfied with Trump, but he steamrolled through a more engaged and partisan primary voting bloc. I maintain that if the GOP base had chosen anyone else, there wouldn't be a question as to who would win this election even if the Democrats drop Biden. Negative sentiment toward Trump is why Biden won in 2020 and why the Democrats still have a chance in 2024. There is historic precedent to choosing nominees at conventions. Ezra Klein had an interesting podcast episode about this back in February (and was correctly sounding the alarm among the elite commentariat that Biden wasn't up for this). It's how candidates were chosen for much of American history. An open convention would require speeches from candidates and voting by delegates who are engaged voters, not unlike a primary crowd. We also haven't had one in decades and I think there's a chance that real time feedback via social media and instant polling could help guide the delegates to a relatively democratic outcome.
I'm of the mindset that Biden chose a deliberately weaker veep in Kamala. The lack of a viable replacement makes me shudder if Newsom slithers in without solving any of California's problems. Dude inherited Jerry Brown budget surpluses from corporate taxes then spent a bulk of it on wasteful stimulus programs that were open to abuse and fraud. Helping people is great if you can afford it. Addressing pension liabilities and housing are more important
Both candidates need to take the standard dementia tests they give as part of Alzheimer's or dementia testing. But, not with their own doctors. They go to a third party where objectivity can remain. Then, we should be able to see the results publicly for ourselves. A couple of MRIs wouldn't hurt, either.
Obama's tweet and Bidens pep rally indicate that he will be the candidate. I do think trump would be beat by someone else but it appears that the chaos may be too much to change candidates at this point.
