Call it what you well but on substance he wasn’t bad. As another poster said though usually debates have les to do with substance and more with optics and there it was bad.

 

In the 1940’s if FDR had to debate in that format in his health there’s no question he would have done much worse, and that final campaign happened to be FDR’s final year of his life, but in that final year of his life the most pivotal moment that decided WW2 happened because of his decision making.

So to be clear we are a worse country because of the vanity obsession we have. However that’s the reality of the situation that decides our future.
