This is a really good use of their second rounder. Griffin can shoot really well naturally - and there is a LOT of untapped talent there if he is healthy. Smart decision by Stone and his staff.
Solid move. Very good rookie season. Apparently had a major ankle injury last year. Never recovered well enough to get back in their rotation. Similar to Landale, when healthy, can be productive. Good value for the 44th pick. Getting out of ATL should help. Others have posted, he might be a malcontent or bad attitude. Dukies, usually don't fit that profile. OK, Laettner. We'll see.
I don't care as long as he produces. You got a problem with a guy professing his faith? BTW, that doesn't make him crazy
"Hey AJ - that is uhh great. Is your wrist broken? No? So uhh I need you to be jacking up threes and not worrying about God. You can do the whole God thing after you retire. So for now just catch and shoot or we will dump your ass back in New Jersey."
Maybe he's a diamond in the rough. But he's also another $4M you can use in a trade - our 2nd round pick wouldn't have been paid nearly that much.
That goes without saying, but something kind of needs to be done. I was thinking of some kind of deal with Phoenix
I had him above Jabari that year. He's not 21 yet and it's incredibly fortunate they got him with a second rounder. Atlanta seems a bit disjointed.
Yeah I'll take "religious weirdo" over "abusive lunatic with anger and impulse control problems and takes it out on women" every day of the week.
I can't imagine Tate being on this roster next year, so he is probably gone. I think AJ is solid insurance behind all those other guys. Considering that his career is at a low, we aren't exactly trading for someone that is going to demand minutes from day 1. He's going to be at the bottom of the depth chart and will likely need for some injuries to happen before he sees the light of day. That's the reality of a team that has talent. Good problem to have. Hoping Tari/Amen stay healthy all season.
