Trading a late first for a ton of seconds has never worked out for any team ever. I'm convinced the Knicks of old are back.
Because he's not that good. A 23 year old rookie who was a bad defender in college doesn't scream "surefire NBA player". He's who the Sheppard haters thought Reed was.
Tyler Edwards also another player who fell hard. Basically a Jabari clone in GLeague ignite. Would def like Rox to get a chance on that guy. Him, Johnny Furphy, Jamal Schead would be nice gets.
You mean like Steph Curry? Knecht was the sole star on his team and carried his squad in MM. His load was much heavier than Reed.
Who know, New York might be able to find a taker for those second-round picks going foward. Teams use them like currency these days, it seems.
But his role was the same right? You can't deny Knecht had a tougher role in college than Sheppard and also had arguably better results since he didnt flop in MM.
6 srps are insane for a 24th pick. Like next year's clas which is supposed to be really deep a 2nd pick there might be worth a low frp in a weak draft.
Ah, I thought it was the 17th pick. Yeah it's a lot, but these picks are probably like Monopoly money for OKC.
Drafts I really like: Rox, Memphis, Jazz Drafts I like: Denver, New Orleans, Wolves Interesting things: The Suns taking a player like Ryan Dunn is good for us. Miami taking Ware is comedic. Spurs doomsday prepping.
A defense is only as strong as it's weakest link. I guarantee you teams will be targeting him on defense and it won't be just second units of college teams. Yes he had enough minutes to face some starters of college teams. But now it's strictly pro NBA talent......not Northern Mississippi Central State. Teams will shadow him as a spot shooter which in essence has us go against 4 - on - 4. But on defense they will isolate him with higher players taking him deep, near the rim. Jimmer Fredette was one of the greatest shooter the college level has ever seen. He could hit from all 3 levels. Led the college ranks in scoring. Ask yourself why didn't he make it? I don't like that he only took about 4 three point attempts per game. If I'm his coach I design it for him to shoot 8 a game......you are shooting 50% from 3. Jack it up dude. That's a weapon, why didn't they use it to a greater extent?
I share your concerns but now he is a Rocket so I hope he proves all doubts wrong and balls out. Plus he just turned 20 can still grown an inch or two like JG and Sengun.
Does anyone have the interview on ABC with John Callipari and Steven A Smith right after Reed was drafted, and they asked John how they think Reed would fit with the Rockets? He had a long pause and some good comments, including how Ime would ensure he fits well, but I can’t find that interview.
