Honestly, Booker is one of the few players that would be worth moving Sengun. we could trade them green + Sengun and still be worth it if that’s even on the table what I would try to do is this: First trade down with Charlotte to get Williams and their pick then trade that pick, suns picks, green and Sengun for booker We could run out: FVV/Amen Booker/whitmore Brooks/tari Bari/tari Willams/adams we still have draft capital and salaries to make another big move like Paul George
I don't think moving Sengun for Booker makes sense to be honest--Booker is only a fringe top 10 guy. It's not like you're getting Luka or Giannis or the type of dude who instantly makes you a contender. Sengun could be right around Booker's level in a year or two if he keeps improving. Now pairing Sengun and Booker together, that might make sense.
Yeah, not moving Sengun for Booker. It would be Green, picks, and other players or no deal to be honest. We're in a position of strength and can watch all our young talent develop next season as well. We don't need him and can develop our own stars potential players or make moves in future seasons, we're 19-22 years old for our core.
This is absolutely true, but I think there’s a real chance that he gets there offensively but limits the defensive of the team in a way that prevents us from becoming a true contender. I would feel way more confident with Booker for offense and playmaking over Sengun and a mark Willam’s type at C Than Sengun at center and another player like Durant or Mitchell or George with a trade but you definitely have a valid point Sengun could be a top five player for sure.
You all have to consider that players like Paul George could force their way to us to play with Udoka and Booker. They are not doing that for Sengun at this stage.
PG has been extremely vocal about loving Sengun's game on his podcast bro. I don't think he'd have any issue playing with him. In any case I don't really care about getting Paul George, he's in his mid-30s and almost washed.
Rockets are in perfect position to grow what they have, sign a player 2025, keep who they want, and trade for another star 2026+
Issue is that the front office has undervalued Sengun since he was drafted as it prioritized others in development and playing time.
Does that ever win us a championship though? I don't really see the purpose of stacking up "good" tier 2 players if we don't have a tier 1 player on the roster. Sengun might be a tier 1 player, he might not, but at least there's a chance. We already know Booker is not a tier 1 player.
I'm with you. I'd rather bet on what we have in-house than hope that Booker suddenly becomes a two-way, playoff legend dragging aging stars and young pieces to a championship. Some people around here only lived through the Harden and Yao years and can't remember what championship level basketball is made of. Defense wins championships, Booker types just get you to the playoffs. Jalen has shown star potential, but hasn't learned to keep that level of play consistently yet. He might have a leap in him. He's 22 and still hasn't even filled out. He won't be physically and mentally mature until he reaches 25. Alperen Sengun has shown plenty of star potential, but hasn't shown consistent championship type defense where he really gets after on that end. He's only 21 and hasn't filled out. He won't be physically and mentally mature until he reaches 25. Booker is what he is. No more leaps. So sticking with the rebuild yields the opportunity of hitting big at a dynasty. Booker isn't a dynasty, if he was, he wouldn't be available. Quit it with the pipe dreams if you want to catch the Spurs on most championships in the state. This rebuild is working. Stay patient padewons.
I guess I’d have to get your reasoning why Booker isn’t a tier one player He’s a two-way player that is also a great playmaker and one of the best three-point shooters and scorers in the entire league he’s top 10 now … Top what is the cut off for the top tier?
Fair enough, I don't rate him that high. For me the definition of tier 1 is "can he be the best player on a team that wins a championship." It's a pretty wide tier, for example I think the gap between guys like Tatum and Jokic is pretty big, but regardless, I still call them all tier 1 players. And then tier 2 is below that, those are your second best players on championship teams, guys like Murray, Jaylen Brown, Kyrie, 2021 Middleton, etc. I don't think Booker is in tier 1, I think he's pretty comfortably in tier 2. I think if Booker is your best player you are never winning a championship. If you think he's good enough to put him in tier 1 then I would agree with you that this trade makes sense. I would trade Sengun plus picks for a 27 year old tier 1 player.
I think if you give up Sengun it's a lost deal. Sengun is the only player in our talent pool that has shown consistent all star level production, the rest are all pretty flawed in their own ways. It's a great possibility Green, Smith, Amen all never make an all star game ever. You want to pair two "for sure" players together, you don't want Booker and 4 question marks
The defense would be terrible with Booker and Sengun. Book might not have that “dawg” in him but you can say “here’s the ball get us a bucket” And you surround him with “dawgs” Amen Book Tari Bari ?
I could go for Booker but I do not want to see many of the core 6 leave in such a deal. Sengun & Amen would be off the table in my book and I would be very hesitant to let Cam or Tari go. Green and/or Jabari along with picks for Booker I can live with.
Waiting for the sad alert that we gutted the team thinking Booker can get us past the 1st round, maybe 2nd if we are really lucky
