Im not sure thats what happened. I think they said a federal judge cant do a temporary injunction. The case is still in the lower federal courts. Temporary federal injunctions have been abused , so i like seeing them reigned in a bit.
that damn MAGA court strikes again Supreme Court prematurely posts opinion allowing emergency abortions in Idaho https://nypost.com/2024/06/26/us-ne...nion-permitting-emergency-abortions-in-idaho/
They finally got the b*stard…lol. You are so full of bullshit. You haven’t been the same since judoka checked your ass.
Jarkesy is out. Roberts writes that "a defendant facing a fraud suit has the right to be tried by a jury of his peers before a neutral adjudicator. Rather than recognize that right, the dissent would permit Congress to concentrate the roles of prosecutor, judge and jury in the hands of the Executive Branch. That is the very opposite of the separation of powers that the Constitution demands."
more at scotusblog Gorsuch also has a lengthy (27-page) concurring opinion. Gorsuch contends that today's decision "hardly leaves the SEC without ample powers and recourse. The agency is free to pursue all of its charges against Mr. Jarkesy. And it is free to pursue them exactly as it had always done until 2010: In a court, before a judge, and with a jury."
2014: high confidence in justices to be independent. 2022: 25% have no confidence in the justices. 2023: 40% have no confidence in the justices (after justices accepted millions in gifts and Roe v. Wade was overturned). 2024: 70% think justices are not independent, but ideological. Gallup on trust and confidence of the Supreme Court: 1970s-2010s: ~5% not at all, ~20% not very much; total - 25% 2010s-2020s: ~8% not at all, ~25% not very much; total - 33% 2022-2023: 21% not at all, 32% not very much; total - 53%
I'm so sick of the USSC blatantly stalling this whole immunity decision. They aren't even trying to hide it at this point. They have wasted months trying to find a reason to give him immunity, and that's unacceptable for Supreme Court Justices.
