Straight up flabbergasted at some of the takes I've seen around the internet. The Nets were not making the Bridges deal if they weren't getting their picks back, and a team that isn't trying to tank isn't going to out tank teams that are actively trying. They'd have the cap space to sign a free agent or two, a huge Ben Simmons expiring they could easily trade, and they'd have been actively shopping the Suns picks for another piece. The pick was far more likely in the 6-15 range than it was in the 1-5 range.

We just turned a pick and a swap into 3 picks and a swap. Those Suns picks are absolutely valuable and even that Mavs pick could be too. Go find anyone talking about the Nets war chest prior to this trade and you'll see people talking about those picks as huge assets, the only reason they moved them was to control their own destiny which makes sense. And we still keep our 27 swap which is still likely in the 11-17 range, chances are the Nets aren't turning it around that fast

The Suns have no depth, a 36 year old KD, oft injured Bradley Beal on a terrible contract, and no room to add depth because they are well over the second apron. That second apron and its rules are going to cause teams to fall off quicker than they did before, and we are going to reap the benefits.

I think if you went to literally any team in the league right now besides the Nets and Suns and offered them either the Brooklyn with Bridges 2025 pick or the Suns 2025, 2027, and 2029 picks, every single team would choose the latter.

Based on this logic you prob also shat on the Rockets for trading Harden to the Nets and getting picks "from a contender with 3 All stars and won 48 games". Especially with the uncertainty of the 2023-2027 drafts amirite?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Btw we want that "time value". In case you havent noticed we are up to our ears in young talent and about to make a top 3 pick a benchwarmer. LOL get outta here.

Idk if win or loss . It’s a gamble , with stones luck I’m feeling good .

the nets 25 and 26 are superior assets . That’s why bkn had to give us more a pick and swap in 29

I also kinda don’t follow the logic of wanting to use the picks for an upgrade … maybe 2 years from now when the nets picks would have been on our roster or traded already … then the suns picks are better , but not currently .

this is more of a kick the can down the road . Which , I have no problem with . We aren’t ready to contend yet .

even if we went all in with assets for luka or Giannis … our team isn’t good enough yet .

How do we know? They said Bridges demanded a trade. The Brooklyn team was blowing up without the Knicks trade. If we knew about this trade then we should have gotten more. I looks bad no matter what.

Them going after Durant is yet another sign that the Rockets are trying to trade Sengun.

Just j/king guys. Trying to lighten the mood before we get kicked in the nads tomorrow.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the gap between the 2025 Phoenix pick and nets pick is only ten or fifteen spots. You gave that up and a frp.

you get back two picks, two swaps, and push assets into the future for an already crowded roster. Even if nothing else happens this is a good deal.

The added potential caveat of placing yourself in prime position on a booker deal that may or may never happen is intriguing as an aside. I believe @DaDakota or @BimaThug said it, a very OKC move.

Yup. That's the trade I was trying to find that Feigen talked about. I was thinking that would be kind of an odd trade, until I thought about it more, but ... still gonna miss those 2025 and possible 2026 odds. lol.

I dont consider 2026 a superior asset. 2026 Ben Simmons is off the books and Nets can sign someone to help Bridges win games. They wont be a contender but playing in East its enough to get out of the lottery.

Really the only loss is the 2025 swap but even then thats a downgrade cuz we got the Suns swap in return and we also improved the 2027 Nets swap because they will be actively tanking now.

It makes you wonder a bit if the Rockets and Nets trade doesnt happen everything stays status quo what place would they finish in the standings versus what happens next year for the Suns. Because the Suns could legit miss the playoffs.

Meaning you could littereally be moving from say the 7th pick to now the 11-12th pick or something. All the while picking up a lot more assets while still keeping the Nets 2027 swap. In my opinion it's a good bet and an excellent trade. Of course that hypothetical 7th pick swap from the Nets next year could jump up into the top 4 again. No way to ever know that now.

Yeah I'm in your camp too. Also, I don't think the Nets tank in 2025 if we don't give them their picks back so the swap might not have amounted to much. Now we get to bet on the eventual Suns downfall.

Someone just made a point about FVV might be a part of any Durant deal. Am I late?

Some of you haven't looked at the current Nets roster and its shows. Because who wouldn't want to come and play with Mikal Bridges and *checks notes* Cam Thomas
