“This is the trade the Rockets have been working on with the Nets since January, a person with knowledge of the trade talks said.”

Yep, the Harden trade was us getting screwed with a bunch of useless Brooklyn picks because they were assured of being good for the "forseeable future"

It's certainly a risky gamble by Stone, but nowhere near the surefire disaster everybody is making it out to be. Short term good picks were turned into longer term picks..possibly better, possibly worse.

Now that I have time to simmer, this is actually a big brain move by Stone.

If none of this trades happen:
-We would have a lotto swap in a deep 2025 class
-low pick in 2026 (as Nets sign a free agent to replace Simmons)
    -low Nets swap in 2027

Now because of these trades we have:
    -2025 Suns swap
    -high Nets swap in 2027
    -unknown PHX 2027
    -2029 PHX/Dallas Pick
    -2029 PHX/Dallas swap

In short Stone turned a lotto 2025 swap and a low 2026 pick into 4 assets 2-4 years later, a 2025 Suns swap and improved our 2027 Nets swap. Thats 6 for 2 deal. Massive win.

    What if its misdirection...

Spyda told Cavs "suck it" I want warmth & durty souf

PG wants his 4 years, TF says I can do 3 with TO on 4 (knowing could trade PG in 2 or 3).

Thrilla + Brooks + draft assets (y'all decide) to CLE for Spyda

Adams + Unc Jeff + Landale + Tate + draft asset (y'all decide) to Clips for PG

Not dealing #3 this year (non starter)

    FVV - Shep
    Spyda - Amen
    PG - Cam
    Bari - Tari
    Sengawd - Jalen Smith (MLE)

Not sure if that gets you a ship, but probably gets you in the discussion.

That's 4 of the top 32 on this list. (Celtics only have 3 of top 32)

Excellent post. I agree with absolutely everything. My only concern is that we gave up position in the 2025 draft which I really like. But having a steady influx of cheap talent while we're in our competition window will be a great luxury. It really just depends on how good that 2025 draft really is. I haven't done that deep of a dive but guys like Zikarsky and Maluach mocked at around 10 already seem like better versions of Clingan to me for example.

I don’t like that we gave up our two best draft assets; one of which was basically a guaranteed lotto pick in what is supposed to be a historically good draft. The bottom line is that the rockets want to horde assets to go star hunting, and they don’t want to take shots in the draft for the next couple yrs. I get that part, but we had Brooklyn over a barrel and should have gotten more imo. Other GM’s probably get more out of this trade. The Nets changed the entire future fortune of their team in one night.

the upside is that I get to root against the Suns next season in the hope of making that 25’ pick swap the least bit valuable;)

The trade they’ve been working on since January is such bullshit lol. That it’s coming from a Rockets mouthpiece isn’t surprising. It may work out but this isn’t the trade they wanted in January…and if it was why the eff are we just hearing about it from the same mouthpiece that said they were all in trying to land Mikal? It’s fine to disagree about the value or impact but to just make up that this is what they wanted all along is total revisionist garbage.

2025 is not all doom ans gloom since we have the Suns swap. Suns are gonna be worse this year since everybody is older and KD checked out again.

Yeah. I think even the 25 suns pick is of some good value. Durant is 56 yrs old already. Beal is close to retirement age too. Gordon might not return. Even if we are to pick next year at mid teens there are gems to be had.

They wanted to trade some of the Nets picks for PHX picks. Clutch reported that long ago.
