He better have, I want no part of a literal end of career diva b*tch like Durant. That would be the dumbest move on the planet at this point. Want no part of that loser.

You are the dumb one you think Nets will blow it up next year to give us a high pick?

    You think he's THAT THICK??

Surely no GM (with the exception of some late 90s/ early 2000s Knicks GMS) would be so dumb as to do the trade knowing the Nets were set on tanking.

    So consider the alternative.
The Nets got their picks back first and then blew it up second

Bear in mind, the Nets have a demonstrated impatience, and are likely to flip some picks for immediate results, and may not even bottom out in 2025.

I like that we still have the 2027 Nets swap. Let's see if we can get any premium draft assets for the #3 pick tomorrow or just take Sheppard, who may himself hopefully turn into a premium asset.

They'd probably want all the picks, Green, Amen and Alpi for Booker.

They would have sucked with or without Bridges. The franchise is a mess.

True, we don't know what happens to Phoenix recordwise by 2027. But look at the age of their roster along with their contracts. It's a virtual guarantee they will have a very different team in the 2026-27 season. Not necessarily a bad team mind you, but a different one. I think it's a gamble worth taking, especially if this current young Rockets core pans out.

“This #Rockets trade is not made for short Twitter posts, but I'm gonna try and explain the thinking here:

    — Think of it as a 3-team deal. The Nets moving Bridges to Knicks was contingent on getting their next two picks back. Otherwise, they were gonna try and mediocrity treadmill, thereby limiting value of the 2025 and 2026 picks to some extent.

    — The 2027 BKN swap is actually more valuable now, since Nets are entering a rebuild and should be quite young.

    — At some point, there are only so many young players you can play. Houston has 6 young-core guys and will add a 7th this week. There's a point of diminishing returns.

    — Yes, they understand the 2025 and 2026 BKN assets are in line to potentially be good. That's why they're getting 4 FRP assets while giving up 2.

    — No, this isn't "you gave up Cooper Flagg." See above Bridges considerations, plus remember #PrayForVictor. Odds are quite different these days.

    — There are two timelines/scenarios to consider. The ideal scenario is that Jalen and/or Sengun take the next step this season and you're able to build a contender with the current young core. If that's the case, you'll need cheap role players (i.e. all those FRP assets in 2027 and 2029) once this team gets way more expensive.

    — If they don't take the next step, you'll probably need to try and make a superstar trade in 2025 or 2026, and having a greater *volume* of FRP assets that are pushed out into further years is probably better value at that time.

    — Yes, Devin Booker is someone who could potentially be available in a year or two given the obvious issues in Phoenix, and having their own picks could be a powerful incentive to grease the wheels for that, if needed (just as it was for Brooklyn to deal Bridges today)

    — Phoenix just won below 50 games in a loaded West and 0 playoff games. One of their two star players is 36 years old. Their outlook is not great.

    — This does not impact the 2024 draft in any way”

I think this is what Woj is alluding to in his "correction". The Rockets will try to use those Phoenix/Dallas picks to get something now that helps the team or wait for the vultures to start circling the Suns. Maybe we're prepping to get either Gilbert Arenas' or Trevor Ariza's kid in that 2027 draft. lol. I think Jason Richardson's kid is in that draft or the 2026 one, too.

All these draft pick trades and swaps are too confusing. Just tell me what are the chances the Rockets land top 3 next draft?

    Basically traded:

2025 Nets pick swap for Suns pick swap (basically wasted, don't think we will have better record than Suns)
2026 Nets for 2027 Suns pick. Betting 2027 Suns will be worse than 2026 Nets (but Nets is going full tank mode n ow)
2029 Suns or Mavs pick swap and pick -- this is confusing, so we get swap one and get the other one?

The one where we have no clue what the draft is going to look like because all those kids literally just finished their freshman year in high school--whereas 2025 has Cooper Flagg, 2026 has Cam Boozer, Ace Bailey, etc.

    We did not give up
    • 2024 3rd pick
    • 2027 swap with BKN
to sum up the trade it’s trading half of Durant’s stimulus package with half of Harden’s stimulus package.

    No fleece here. Win-win
