A big man that placed 3rd in DPOY voting before age 23 and would without question go number 1 this year is mediocre - clutchfans.
A lot of teams have hinted at wanting Clingan. If they want to be getting good trade offers for pick #3, they'd be smart to smoke screen that Clingan's the guy even if the real pick is Reed or someone else Doesn't even mean you for sure trade the pick, but it's smart to put yourself in the position to get the best offers
Hasheem Thabeet and Hassan Whiteside had a lot of height. I just have this feeling that all that Clingan hype will end up like the previous tall players. If I am wrong in the end then bash me. Meanwhile, I stand by my prognosis.
I have done my own big board but have not has time to type it out. What I will say about Sarr is that I don't know if he will ever be a good volume shooter from 3 - but I do think that he can become an adequate 3 point shooter and likely can finish off the pass under the basket - but that is likely going to be the extent of his offense. On the defensive side he needs to get stronger - but he is probably the most mobile center in the league when it comes to switching and picking up guys. He is just incredibly nimble and quick. That is a REALLY important ability for a center in 2024. I also believe he will block shots well - I am not so sure he will ever be a great rebounder though. He is like a far more mobile and longer Capela. I would take him at 3 if Risacher is off the board probably because of what he can do defensively - but I admit, he is likely headed to a Marcus Camby level offensive player.
I don't know - Eli and his guys are really quiet unless someone else speaks up. My "guess" would be Sheppard.
I think ideally you have a coach that deals with playing the players he is given and a GM that is in charge of the long-term best interest of the organization. No - I like Ime Udoka as a coach. I think he is pretty savvy and a strong leader that the players like playing for and they tend to play hard. He is also a very good teacher and strong communicator. FWIW I trust Udoka's talent evaluation as much as Stone's. I don't like how Stone constructs teams though - they don't always fit well.
I trust Ukoka way more than Stone. I would hope that Udoka and Eli work closely together, since both have a good eye for talent. IMO this draft is loaded with mid first round talent. Trading down may yield a player with roughly the same talent level. We will see if another team can not resist the trade up.
So what majority of core 6 would go no 1 in this draft. The only reason Mobley got no 3 is all of Ringer voted for him and the only reason they all glazed him is because Bill Simmons was trying his best to make Jalen Green look bad at the time. Remember when Simmons shouted "**** Jalen Green" and said he sucks because his team sucks? Funny all that energy disappeared when Wemby got drafted even if Spurs got less wins than Green Rockets.
