Meanwhile, is @SamFisher thriving on Mastodon?

Wasn't Mastodon going to replace doomed Twitter?

    What happened to that?

Let me get this straight. I don't want to speak for you.

Its ok to hold public debates but force people to purchase subscriptions to left leaning news outlets if they wish to engage?

Lets take it one step further. Since we have a massive debt burden, perhaps only people who have payed more than 25k in taxes a year should be allowed to vote or pay a $500 voting fee.

Broadcast rights owned by networks isn't new. I hate that Astros games get blacked out and I can't watch them. But I understand that is how the networks operate. CNN sucks. I wish it was a free network. I would be happy for other networks to be able to carry the debate. But I understand that debates don't get an exemption from purchased broadcast rights. It isn't my preference but it isn't new nor is it all that important.

It certainly isn't the same as voting rights. That isn't one step further that is 10 million steps further.

I wasn't sure what you were talking about because I had that poster on ignore.

Elon is stirring up some misinformation again (or as always). I'm not a fan of CNN. I'd rather see the debate hosted by PBS or CSPAN (lol). The presidential debate should be available to the public at large, and it is. CNN is streaming it for free to everyone (no login or subscription required on cnn.com). Anyone can also restream it, I believe. The New York Times is also streaming it live with commentary, along with many other media organizations.

How to Watch the Biden-Trump Presidential Debate - The New York Times (nytimes.com)

    Where can I watch it?
    • The New York Times will stream the debate alongside real-time commentary and analysis from reporters.
    • CNN will broadcast or stream the debate on all its platforms, including its flagship cable channel, as well as CNN International, CNN en Español and CNN Max. The network also plans to stream the debate on CNN.com. You will not have to log in or be a subscriber to watch the stream.
    • CNN is also sharing its feed with other broadcast and cable news networks so that they could simulcast the debate. That means you can also watch it on Fox News, ABC News and probably elsewhere.

no, Poole is saying CNN might try to hit people with DCMA violations if they use clips/recordings of the debate after it happens

That's not what he said in the tweet you shared here. My advice: calm down. CNN isn't suing anyone, and if they do, they will lose under fair use.

“Commentary on a presidential debate is the epitome of fair use and we fully intend to provide insight and real time fact checking Thursday LIVE
