You completely lost me here. How on earth do they have all the scoring they need? Because for 1 month that Jalen evoked god like shooting efficiency, they put up good offensive numbers? If you think that is so replicable, then you should be banging the drums to extend Jalen this very second. Yes there is a potentially untapped offensive potential in Jabari and Amen as well as hopefully healthy seasons from Tari and Whitmore. But it is all projection.
I don't get why you are pitting those two guys against each other? So projecting Amen can develop into SGA but not thinking Sengun can develop into a passable 3 pt shooter is very strange to me. Especailly since it took SGA 6 seasons to get to this level. On top of that the rest of that team outside Giddey is deadly from 3pt range. Basically every one of them shoots better from distance than most everyone on the Rockets. That creates the space for SGA to work. That isn't close to the Rockets personnel. All the Rockets guys have a summer to develop, and the team needs to push all of them to add to their games and be able to pass off being focal points when necessary next season. Title teams need at least 2 guys who create offense anyways, so the key is creating a system where guys like Amen and Sengun (just as examples) can play together.
I'm not sure why you're ranting at me, I'm pro Sengun. I was just answering somebody who asked "how many centers are actually good at shooting 3's." Didn't read your post tbh.
I understand the concern but we already have a replacement or two on the team in Adam's and Landale. My thing is we have an opportunity to build a top rated defense around an offense that showed great potential towards the end of last season with Alpi out. Scorers like Cam, Jalen, Jabari, FVV etc who will be better this season. By trading Alpi now we can put that defense into play. We may have a top ten defense but what we want is a top 3 defense. That's why I keep saying things like....... Pray for Sarr and Carter!!!!
Another draft/trade deadline, another day with the usuals wanting to trade the best player on the team for more unproven assets. As usual, give it a few days, and the GARM will clean itself up again for another 7-8 months or so.
Injury is the only thing that would hinder that positive offensive progression. No one should ever expect players to be stagnant or get worse. Plus, I always forget about Tari who I think will make a leap this season. Also expect Cam, who we thought was going to have shooting woes when he came into the league, to be even better than he was in his rookie year.
My sincerest apologies Dobbizle. I misconstrued and totally misread your post. I get your point. Thanks.
I wonder why some keep harping on being a SOF when supporting Sengun. He is and has been practically the only Rockets player who provides a silver lining for the future and it is just right to enjoy and praise his game, flaws and all. All these mindless calls to trade him look more like personal bias, and a certain degree of disdain for the others who are appreciative of his game. The Rockets are at .500 and don't tell us that Sengun did not have a major contribution to achieving that after so many years of absolute mediocrity. It's ludicrous that folks are anointing Amen as the second coming when he plays G/F and can only dunk and not shoot a lick from any distance and yet are ragging on Sengun's 3 pt. shot while playing center. Amen has the IQ and athleticism to be a potentially great player but until he can shoot he is a relative liability on offense. I like his game but without a shot he is nowhere close to the player that some posters make him out to be.
Sengun ball is perennial first round exit at best imagine being a fan of any other team. Would you take a Sengun led team serious?
