I spent a few hours watching Edey cook Clingan in the NCAA Championship. I don't see how he's ahead of Edey.

I'd rather have Carter, Dillingham or Sheppard & Adams to be truthful.

Even worse hearing Senguns fans make excuses & shift blame to everyone but Sengun when this happens. Trust me it's coming. Once they get tired of blaming Jalen, it's eventually be Ime not using Sengun correctly. Teams already find Sengun on defense now lol

If their unprotected pick for 2025 was on the table then yah that changes the conversation. Memphis' picks don't interest me at all, will be late lottery at best, in reality Memphis will be a top 5 or 6 seed in the West.
The issue for me is I don't really like the names floating around out there in trade talks either. Why would we give up assets for a 35 year old Jimmy Butler or Paul George? They don't fit our timeline at all.
Ingram maybe but not as a 1A type guy. Same thing for Bridges, he's just an elite role player.

So for me it's either take a guy at 3 or trade back and collect assets for a trade to be named later I guess but the assets better be worth it.

Yeah, I know, one is an undersized freshman shooter coming off his freshman year and wanting to start a new position at a higher level vs a 2 time position established champion......
    Best player available?..........Fit?.........
I think Clingan wants rings and is used to them.......
I'm afraid Reed, although a player of great magnitude, forced into changing positions, especially undersized, is a lot to ask of him........
At least, I know what role Clingan would serve.....

But then again, would if there are other options?........

    All conjecture.........

Future draft asset is not the same as future PREMIUM draft asset.

It appears Reed Sheppard is and has been the target from the beginning and Clingan was brought in to discourage Atlanta from trading down with the Spurs. The trading down rumors are bunk too since we did not work out any alternate prospects. Either Iko is clueless or the team is blowing smoke up his ass.

The funny thing is Clingan is also a drop coverage big just like Edey, he wont be chasing Steph Curry or Kyrie Irving on the perimeter like he's Mobley or Wemby. I honestly dont get it lol.

It's pretty obvious that if a fan is obsessed with being against Sengun, they will always want someone else on the team to be "the star" (eg Amen), and they will want a center to be drafted every year.

I hope so. I cant believe I went from hoping we dont get Reed Sheppard to praying we get him cuz the alternative is Donovan Clingan lol wtf.

I am fairly confident Jock Landale will be a better player than Clingan in the next 4 yrs. I dont see the need to spend a top 3 pick on the backup to the backup.

Stone has always gone with the safe/consensus pick...Jabari (at the time it was Banchero), Green, Amen...Barring a trade...next up...Reed Sheppard...come on down!

the fact that someone like him is even in the discussion for going as high as 1st overall, smokescreen or not, is insane to me

if he had any semblance of a jump shot, I’d get it

his PR team trying to sell Whataburger as some premium high end burger with real gold sprinkled on the bun

The most fascinating thing to me is watching that demo have a Ted talk everytime Senguns defense is brought up and use "metrics" to support a good defender and gaslight everyone with working eyesight. Alperen Sengun will mix it up. He's strong and doesnt back down. He just lacks the athleticism, vertical pop and lateral agility to be a good/great defender. He can get in the way and will snag balls from the weakside or as a chasedown which is a bonus. I say this not to knock the guy because what he adds on the other end of the court allows me to shrug off the suspect defense, but you need to surround him with capable defenders to make the scheme work. No way in hell you can roster 3 plodding big men and expect to have the depth to go far in the postseason.

OKC keeps getting mentioned (in addition to Memphis) as a team that may come up to 3. What would they offer that we would listen to??? Our picks back? Keep em. We want to win now!

Correct. The future draft pick has to be lottery or no deal.

they really don’t have anything for us. Cason Wallace? Most all of their future draft picks are meh. Presti has done a good job, but he is not the basketball god people are making him out to be. They are definitely in win now mode, because they won’t be able to keep this team intact for long and NBA players aren’t lining up to live in Oklahoma.
