Reed can’t play defense well. He’s short and only182 pounds. He can be an incredible shooter off the bench though. I’d take him if we can’t get a good trade together.

    Good job guys.

I agree that if we could pick up a future early lotto pick to move back and still pick up Devin Carter, that would be ideal. But absent that we need to pick Reed Sheppard at #3.

Interesting discussion on the need for a consolidation trade and the money our guys will command coming off their rookie-scale deals. We can’t afford to pay Jalen. We need to do what OKC did with Giddy, and get a better return.

    A more level-headed Dennis Rodman.

It’s amazing how guys like DD have determined Amen will never have a shot after a 30 game preview, but was willing to spend years propping up a loser like KPJ. When I guy has a love for basketball, a great coaching staff, and an incredible work ethic, odds on he will become at least an average shooter. If he ever gets to average shooter at the mid-range and 3 pt shot, he is a superstar. Dennis Rodman was a great rebounder and great defense player. He could not shoot, dribble, or pass worth a flip.

Fun fact: Rodman averaged 26 & 16 in college. Daly said we have enough scorers - just rebound the ball & play defense. Rodman was a savant at rebounding.

    Pros:
    • Potentially elite drop defense. Gobert/Ostertag/Pryzbilla/Kessler/Bogut esque.
    Cons:
    • Offensive talent. Can't post up, Can't dribble, can't shoot. Those 1.5 APG passes won't be there when his defender is standing under the rim. Don't put him in the same sentence as Andrew Bogut on offense.
    • Injury and stamina concerns?
TLDR: If Clingan is there at 3, we dealing this thang.

The question is: Reed Sheppard or a Donovan Clingan+ return?

    Carter's 6-3 but has a 6-8 wingspan. Hmm.

Yeah but Clutch doesn't say that.
He does ask Bima if it could be a possibility, but with the hope that Houston could still pick him up while trading down, I think.

I have a hunch that Spurs have made a promise to Castle, so they may pass on Sheppard. Castle hasn't worked out for many teams and his agency is not actively pushing him for a higher pick. This is probably a pre-agreed deal at #4

The Clingan over Sheppard rationale is that Clingan's peak-play in the tournament was higher quality than Sheppard's play.

    However:
    • Clingan is a sophomore, he needed two years to reach that peak, while Sheppard is a freshman. In his freshman year CLingan was not that impactful, and at times he head issues with weight. If Clingan cannot maintain weight, his mobility will be impacted and the injury risk will be higher. So you have to keep that in mind.
    • You cannot discount the "U-of-KY guard" voodoo magic when evaluating Sheppard. The overperforming KY guard list is way too long to be a fluke. We missed out with TyTy, we should be due to get some of that voodooo...

Thank you @Clutch, thank you @BimaThug! Great job as usual!!

Love all the speculation and hypothetical scenarios that this draft and offseason present for the rockets!!;)

The only nonfiction in the entire podcast, is the humongous pending dilemma regarding Jalen Green's contract situation! Like @BimaThug said, this team is going to get pretty expensive in the next couple of years and making a mistake on on a #2 draft pick money extension will definitely hinder our flexibility, not to mention our progress as a team!! I know they can RFA him at the end of the season, but that is not an ideal situation for either party!

(p.s.) I'm on the Reed bandwagon, but getting Carter seems like it's the next in-vogue thing to do if we trade down. Just hope they don't screw the pooch after lady luck smiled on them and gave them the #3 pick!!!!

    Go Rockets!!!

Small wingspan, but had one of highest steal rates and block rates for his size. Can also jump out of the gym
