Hopefully, it'll last just about a month before Garcia and McCullers can come back to contribute. Not to mention, we've been doing this without Tucker.
wouldn't surprised me if Dana gonna trade montero. question is, who is willing to take that contract?
Lol You always giving the shaft to Chas. Loperfido already ahead of him. Meyers gets hot for a few weeks and doubles Chas’ playing time. Chas had an .850 OPS last year
Lopefido is a genuine prospect that needs playing time. The reason they sent him down was because there wasn't playing time for him. They would not have brought him back unless they were going to play him. Chas is a huge luxury as a better than average 4th OF, but he's an overachiever and he has lost a step on the bases and in the OF. The Astros have given Meyers twice Chas' playing time. I'm just saying I would keep doing that. Meyers has started in CF 32 of the past 34 (35 after today) games. And even after Chas' big game yesterday, Meyers has outplayed him during that time, and for the entire season. Meyers is a better player. Period. Chas is what he is. A good 4th OF. And Loperfido has upside so needs an opportunity. That doesn't leave much time for Chas, especially once Tucker is back.
Meyers will never sniff an .850 OPS. He has been the favorite for sure but was outplayed by Chas for 2 straight years (badly last year) while they still tried to give meyers the job the whole time. Chas struggles in 100 at bats and gets jumped by everyone.
Maybe... play who is healthier... Meyers still was building shoulder strength... and this year Chas's hammy limited him
Some middle of the pack or lower team may be willing to take him on because they just need guys to eat innings the last 2 months. I’m sure the Astros would have to eat some of the contract and at best get a guy for farm depth in return.
Because Chas is a late blooming overachiever who is not an especially "toolsy" player. History says those players have very short careers and drop off w/o warning. He simply won't get the benefit of the doubt. You say Meyers won't stiff an .850 OPS. Well, Meyers at .750 has more value to a team than Chas at .850. And Chas' .842 ( he will never see .850 either) looks like a outlier that he will never see again. I like Chas and hope he does that AND more. I just think Meyers is way more likely to be a better player in 2024 and the rest of their careers. MLB percentiles (per baseball savant) 2024 Hitting: Jake 70th, Chas not qualified Baserunning: Jake 93rd, Chas not qualified Fielding: Jake 95th, Chas 62nd 2023 Hitting: Jake 15th, Chas 90th Baserunning: Jake 72nd, Chas 40th Fielding: Jake 87th, Chas 64th You can argue that Meyers' 2024 is better and more valuable than Chas' 2023. Meyers is a year younger and in his 1st healthy season after a horrific shoulder injury nearly ended his career. He may still have not peaked.
This is all just anti chas crap. You saying that at 29 he has lost a step and differentiating between .850 and .842 and saying that jake is more valuable at .750 all just smacks of bias. The truth is Chas has grossly outplayed meyers for 2 years and then had a bad April this year before pulling a hammy. You saying that Jake is a “better player period” has never been proven out. Chas has had the better career so far. You were all about meyers last year too until it made zero sense. Now right back on that train. I think they should both start. Chas has earned it.
How many at bats? Also meyers had long stretches of being “unplayable” and he still played almost everyday and many times over a red hot chas.
Meyers at least can chase down a ball with the best of them. Chas's splits are just painful to look at. They're all the same....splats
