I would take Mark Williams and number six for the third pick in a minute. However, I didn’t know about his back issue and that it still lists like that is concerning. Not to mention that if they are in on Clingan, That could be an additional bad omen on Williams.

One trade with Charlotte that I would entertain is number 3 for number 6 and the right to swap the Brooklyn pick with the Charlotte pic next year.

I hear whispers that the Rockets like Dalton Knecht. They need a player that can create
    his own points.

I sense Clingan and Sheppard are being advertised by Rockets sources to get teams to ante up
much like Orlando was trying to do with Jabari Smith. In the end they did not draft Smith; but
    instead drafted Banchero.

Here are some stats from (23/24):
    ...............................pts.......Rebs....Ast....FG%....FT%....PER....ORtg....DRtg
    Mark Williams:...12.7.......9.7.....1.2.....64.9....71.9....22.5....138......116 (19 games)
    Nick Richards:....9.7.........8.0.....0.8.....69.1....73.7….16.7.....134......118 (67 games)
    Sengun:...............21.1........9.3.....5.0.....53.7....69.3....22.0.....118......111

    per-36 minutes....pts........Rebs......Ast......blks.......stls
    Mark Williams:...17.1........13.2......1.6.......1.4........1.3
    Nick Richards:....13.3….....11.0......1.1.......1.5........0.5
    Sengun.................23.4.......10.4.......5.5.......0.8........1.3

So people are enamored by a big that can get some passes......I'm not impressed.
I prefer positions 1-4 getting the bulk of my teams assists. (PG, SG, SF, PF).

Notice how the greater points by Sengun but the much higher ORtg by Richards and
    Mark Williams.

Celtics use a formula or model similar to mine: Porzingis didn't play much, but
Horford stepped up with all those quote unquote wings.
    Jrue Holiday-Derrick White-Jaylen Brown-Tatum.

In the reg season (23/24): played bigger than their heights
    Jrue Holiday 42.9 (3P%).....4.8 Ast.....5.4 Rebs
    Derrick White 39.6 (3P%)....5.2 Ast.....4.2 Rebs

Jalen Green (23/24 season) full season
    .......................33.2 (3P%)....3.5 Ast.....5.2 Rebs
Jalen Green (23/24 season) last 20 games
    .......................37.7 (3P%)....4.3 Ast.....6.2 Rebs

So Marcus Smart gives Udoka much of what he wants, minus 3-point shooting consistency.

    If given the choice between:
    Marcus Smart + ?Dalton Knecht?
    or
Mark Williams + ?Dalton Knecht? Sengun play PF and hits more 3's.
    Shoot 5 a game w/35% (3P%) or greater.
I would pick Mark Williams + Dalton Knecht

Honestly I would like to get Kel'el Ware for his ability to shoot 3's in case Sengun still can't.

I guess if they want an old man that would never play, Knecht could make sense.

    Old man?

I don't know, I said Keegan Murray should be drafted sooner than he was projected.
Often people do a "re-draft" of that class with Keegan Murray going #1, #2 or #3.

Udoka rumored not wanting any more raw players, would more than likely take a Dalton Knecht
if forced to take a rookie.

Fits the age mean of most of the other Rockets. Circa age 22

Knecht would be the oldest player on the Rockets drafted since 2021... and he'd be a rookie guard buried deep on the bench forever.

Guy can play. I know you have no idea about his game and can't see it translating.

Like Keegan Murray he will do just fine.

He has the frame to dribble, initiate contact, absorb said contact and put up a layup/shot.
Uses backboard well. NBA 3-point range.

He is in my definition of facilitator: draw multiple defenders, create space, pass or put up
a shot. He can do everything Herro and Does can Robinson can do.....and they are not
buried at the end of a bench.

League is trashing that: you have to draft an 18 or 19 year old nonsense.
It was always dumb. Like a car dealership only wanting to sell this year's
models. There is value in cars, despite being a few years older.

You'll be eating your words like in most cases.

Dude puts it in the hole at the college level and will do the same age the NBA level

We'll see, to me the way he plays will not translate... he was just an old man playing against 18 year old kids... he wasn't any good at all till he was several years older than most of his competition.

He'll be as good as Dan Majerle

And what, all of the other college players were playing against "non 18 year old kids?"

Smart would fit in rather nicely with our team, he has a few Mad Max vibes.

For anyone not aware the ‘fan’ allegedly used a slur against Mr. Smart

Not a big fan of Clingan or Sheppard. Like Knecht more. But I have bad feeling San Antonio is going to take him at 8th. Another problem is we have too many players at SF/SG. Someone is going to have to play the backup PG min.

    Fred VanVleet is:
    $43 million (24/25)
$45 million (25/26) TEAM OPTION.....[means (24/25) contract CAN BE USED as an expiring contract]
It's tough to trade a $40M contract during the season; but anything can happen.

It's position less basketball where every player switches everything defensively
and on offense everyone pitches in to get 4 to 5 Rebs and 4 to 5 assists, drive and draw
multiple defenders and then kick out or pass.

Jalen Green plays more PG.....or 1: much like end of season as Green was dribbling better,
making better decisions, teams double teamed Jalen at half court to get the ball out of
    his hands.

Jabari slides to Center: improved his ball handling from year one to year two. He is
expected to work on it further during this off season. Allowed to post up or
drive 5 to 7 times a game. Got to give a dog a bone every once in a while.
Transition Jabari from just a spot shooter to a little more, take advantage
    of mismatches.
    ---------------

This allows for more time given to Cam Whitmore, Tari, and say Dalton Knecht at positions
2,3, and 4. People last year had SF body Cam Whitmore playing more at SG and replacing
Jalen Green. Well Cam Whitmore or Dalton Knecht can fill in for Jalen Green if Green
    plays more PG (or 1).

Tari gets more playing time at 3 or 4 if Jabari plays more at 5 (Center).

I want a Devin Carter to have a 3-man platoon of
1 (PG): VanVleet - Amen Thompson - Jalen Green - ?Devin Carter?......
    Malik Beasley/Tyus Jones (FA option)

    2 - 3 (SG - SF): Jalen Green -
?Dalton Knecht? - ?Devin Carter? - Cam Whitmore....Amen Thompson
    Malik Beasley/Tyus Jones (FA option)

    4 (PF): Jabari Smith -
Tari Eason - Sengun (if he is shooting 3's) - Amen Thompson - Cam Whitmore

    5 (Center): Sengun -
Steven Adams (Adams and Sengun are redundant if Sengun doesn't shoot 3's) [ expendable]
Jock Landale (lighter Steven Adams, but possibly can be a 3-pt threat with work) [ expendable]

**Odd man out is Dillon Brooks: Rockets can start decreasing his minutes or trade him.

I don't mind the Rockets drafting Zach Edey: with Edey showing he can hit 3's while open.
I can play Zach Edey in drop coverage defending the rim like Gobert and Sengun defend
the perimeter like KAT. Edey would give me that rim protection that Sengun never will.

I don't mind the Rockets drafting Kel'el Ware or signing Jalen Smith in free agency.
This will give us a mobile center that can shoot 3's. Just in case Jabari doesn't add
that extra 10 pounds of muscle over the off-season. Ware can give us 18 minutes
of Dereck Lively type play plus spacing.

    Option, options, decisions, decisions

What a weak response and idiotic comment. I will always remind you of your hate, bias, and lack of knowledge about the game. Not to mention sorry analysis. At the end of the day that man is on your mind constantly. Every single day. Every single hour. It’s disturbing and odd. and you have to ask yourself the question why. He occupies a lot of space in your mind. He owns you.

Marcus Smart is a master flopper. That skill alone is worth trading for. :D
