I don't think so. He'll bring the defense that Alperen can't. With he and Adams manning the defense we'll be top 5 instead of top 10. Playoff worthy.
The better question is, why does every front office want all the draft people to report that they like Clingan? Cause I've seen this with lots of other team rumors. It makes no sense for everyone to lie about a single prospect. So either Clingan is a hell of a lot better prospect than fans are giving him credit for, or there are a lot of teams that wants to kiss Dan Hurley's behind because maybe they want to hire him? I don't know. I'm actually quite interested to see where he ends up, and I'm actually more and more buying into the Rockets taking him at 3 if Atlanta takes Risacher.
If they're not going to take Reed (mistake) they should trade down with Portland for the 7 and 14. #7 SF, Cody Williams 6'8 w/ 7'1 wingspan #14 C, Kel'el Ware 7'1 w/ 7'5 wingspan They're both young with big time upside. Both can space the floor at +40% from 3. They have the length to be great on the boards AND on defense.
That would be a good haul. Especially if they can somehow get Brogdon as well without giving up any of our young draftees.
Sengun or jabari, most likely Sengun. Maybe not immediately but one of those guys will eventually have to go.
so why announce it then? I’m fine with Clingan but not sure what the advantage is of announcing it unless you are trying to impact other team’s decisions.
IDK. This is the year I don't like any of them lol. 2021: Like Barnes, but prefer Jalen with higher ceiling. We need a superstar. 2022: Like Chet. We all know we're just getting the left over between Paolo, Chet, and Jabari. 2023: Like Miller, but knowing no chance. Can't decide between Amen and Cam, but eventually got both. 2024: I really don't have anyone I like.
Huh? Pretty sure best case scenario is Sengun comes back as if the injury didn't happen and continues to grow towards being an all-star...
At this point it's obvious what their plan is. If both Sarr and Clingan are gone, they'll take Sheppard. But if Clingan is there, they'll auction him off for some combination of a lower pick, a future pick, and a mediocre veteran. Hard to see Clingan and Sengun together here long-term, especially with the same agent.
