This is just propaganda to get teams to think we’d take Clingan at #3 so we can maximize trade offers.
I like Clingan and would be fine taking him at #3 if our scouts thought he was BPA. Hopefully most fans would fall in line.
I guess they want the Vipers to have a good shot blocker because that is the only place he will get minutes here barring a trade. Center is our strongest and deepest position. I am hoping Atlanta takes him to reduce Stones options to keep him from making a huge mistake.
The funny thing is everyone has raved about Clingan and no fan is buying it. Charlotte, Memphis, NO all talking about trading for 3rd if Clingan is there. Atlanta is clearly thinking to get him at 1. The Spurs supposoedly love him. All these teams making a concerted effort to smokescreen Clingan would definitely be something I'm seeing for first time since following the draft
I think you could say the same for any big man, whether he was projected as a back up or not. If that's who we get then I won't be one of them, we'll just have to see if I like him enough to buy his jersey as quickly as Sengun and Amen (year 1) or Green and Tari (year 2.) I was expecting to buy probably another Green (2nd) and Sengun (3rd) jersey along with a 3rd if I like the city edition (dunkstronaut's been the best in years for me, so I bought 3 this last season.) I actually really kinda like having legit draft picks after so long, just way more excuses for jerseys. I spent a long time just buying a lot of Harden jerseys.
I'm not sure I would take Clingan over Sheppard. The question I would have to think about is if I would take Clingan if Sheppard goes 1 or 2. That would mean one of the french players is available as well.
This news is two days old; it’s just the local beat writer that says that but guys like Jeremey woo and Johnathan Giovany have said otherwise
I have yet to see any film of Clingan doing something remarkable. Just rewatched the National Championship game highlights, but Clingan must have had an off night. His defense looked ineffective and he didn't do much on offense
