If this is Stone's play, he's probably looking for a potential high pick in 2025 Draft. The NBA trades and protects picks so much here's what 2025 looks like... https://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/future_drafts/summary/2025 For example, a team like UTH could offer Pick #10 and their 1st pick unprotected between 1-10 next year. CHI could do something similar with Pick #11 and their 1st pick unprotected between 1-10 next year. I could see UTH be interested in moving up for Clingan or Sheppard, but if they lose a top pick in next year's draft that could be devastating to their rebuild. MEM could also do this with #9 and they'll likely do much better if everyone stays healthy next year. It's definitely a gamble, but would extend our window for talent acquisition and give us a shot at a big time prospect if we can get a 2025 lottery pick out of a trade. NOTE: SAT could trade us #8 and either their or ATL 2025 picks for #3 and they could likely get two guys they may be coveting to build around Wemby.
Please tell me we aren't trading down for Topic, giving him a rehab year, and getting a '25 draft asset. If we're giving up #3, I'm asking for the protection on that future pick to be only 1-3. And if we're dealing with San Antonio, someone should be fired.
If we’re not drafting Sheppard, the only late lotto team I want to deal with is the Bulls: 1). Their front office and ownership are stupid 2). They are eastern conference 3). They will continue to be a lotto team so their picks are valuable. 4). There should be a good player there at #11 5). What does the Giddy trade mean for Coby White’s availability?
“Tennessee’s Dalton Knecht, who has fans within the Rockets organization, could be available if Houston were to move back.” — Iko Don’t think Knecht makes it out of the top 10. Back end of the lottery: The other Kentucky guard Dillingham? Holland Topić Williams (although now seeing as high as 5 & 7) Salaun (maybe as high as 8 to SA) Carter (maybe, maybe no) McCain Walter Going from 3 to 11-14, it’d have to be a minimally protected(top 3), if not unprotected pick.
Stone desperately wants to get into the late lottery purgatory that mediocre teams are stuck in who get forced to continue picking mediocre players when he's gifted a top 3 pick. It's time for a completely new FO.
The Rockets want a veteran shooter in return along with the trade down Sounds like Blazers at 14 is the target with either Brogdon (most likely) or Simons attached in addition to a future draft pick
If Clingan and Sarr go #1 and #2 then I doubt any team will offer the farm to move up. Those are the two guys who they would want to move up for and if they are gone the offers for #3 would be a lot less. That being said, it is possible some GM's who have Sheppard at the top of their board might be willing to trade up for him.
So I'm assuming this is a credible insider with the widespread reactions. Doesn't sound ideal though, I'll just trust the FO if there's some random person we've not focused on and just hope it's the same person who pushed for Sengun and Tari...
The team trading down always loses. The only way this is acceptable is if Stone is getting the extra first to pull off a star trade.
I don't really live on the forum tbh, I don't know who the vast majority of people are. Unless it's actually the Chuck Wagon, in which case that's pretty cool.
The fact that I don't trust them. It's the same FO that blew the #2 pick in 2021, the same FO that brought in Brooks fully guaranteed for 4 years... there's just no really dumb rumor that I can dismiss because with these guys ANYTHING is feasible. I just want a competent FO that I have some measure of faith in to do the best thing for the team. You tell me Stone wants to trade the #3 pick and all of the Nets picks for Clint Capela...I can't assume he wouldn't do it..... and I should be able to
Trade down with Detroit for their 2024 FRP + 2025 FRP (top 1-4 protected) since it'll likely end up #5 once again.
