Yeah Greens defense was solid last year. If we had a rim protecting center he'd of been even better. Remember we played our best basketball with Jalen running the show and Sengun hurt. I think a better question is can we get a better option at center that can defend & switch.

I think Reed is definitely a pg though im not sure that distinction matters much.

That said, teams have started two smaller guards. Not saying these were good back courts but they've had some success.

    Lowry, Maxey
    Isiah Thomas, Avery Bradley
    Lillard, Mccollum
    Lillard, Beverly
    Steph, CP3 (limited amount)

Not ideal but teams do it.

The 2019 Raptors would disagree. Or the bad boy Pistons since Reed is the same size as Dumars.

It’s just a smokescreen. If we offered 3 and filler for 9 and Smart they would jump all over it. #9 and Smart is not enough for #3, especially as long as Sarr is a possibility.

Arent they talking about a 3 team deal to get Bridges with Smart? If not Smart would be a great addition. Former DPOY. great feel
For the game and plays within the flow of the offense. Unselfish. Can play in the post. He would replace Holliday

Smart can’t shoot with any consistency.
Smart lost a step the year before he didn’t play/injured.
Smart is a de facto clone of Brooks. So, where goeth Brooks?

Alpi plays 4 on national team. I could see some of that in Houston.

He isn’t Brooks. He is a combo guard and much more dynamic than Brooks bringing passing/playmaking, dribble drive, and post game. Better finisher in the paint. Better perimeter defender than Brooks. Besides defense his best asset is facilitating the flow of the offense.

Why would Rockets ever put Sengun at 4 when most 4’s in this league are smaller and faster with stretch ability? Sengun isn’t a stretch 4 himself. And the Rockets don’t have a stretch 5.

Sengun just needs to slim a bit and a consistent 3-ball and he’d be a terrific 4. The guy is a baller.

As much as I like Sengun Im sure management has looked at this for a while. The modern NBA’s blueprint features an athletic rim protector at the 5 and stretch capability is a bonus. Sengun is neither but he has other skills such as passing and a dribble drive game from 18-20 feet out that makes this such a complicated issue. They got Adams to contend with bigger teams in the West. What to do next? Stay tuned
