No untouchables, but literally only because I'd trade any of our guys for a bonafide right-now superstar. However, in priority order to KEEP: 1.Sengun - goes without saying, closest thing we have to a star player right now. Not sure he'll ever be a big enough bucket getter to be a true 1A, but should be a top 10 big man in the league for a long time I think. 2. Green - shown more superstar potential than every single other prospect we have combined. It'd be idiotic not to take the gamble on keeping him, especially if he went off and blew up elsewhere. 3. Tari - I think even if he doesn't develop much from where he is at all he'll be a perennial 6moty contender. 4. Amen - He's only this high because his potential ceiling is so high. Really needs to show some growth either as a shooter or a playmaker otherwise he's just another (albeit insanely) athletic defensive wing. 5. Cam - I think he'll be our starting SF someday without much trouble tbh. I don't think he'll ever have the handling to be a top star, but only because the league's moved on from SF iso ball for the most part. I could see something like a poor-man's Melo/Jaylen Brown cross. 6. Bari - I like Bari a lot tbh, but I think he is what he is. And 3 and D wings are a lot more common these days than at any point in history because the archetype is so established by now.
Alperen Sengun is the closest to an untouchable player in a trade. The Rockets mustn't draft Clingan and they shouldn't trade Sengun at any costs.
Sengun/Amen for me. Jabari/Cam/Tari. I really have a problem w/ it unless the deal is amazing. I like Jalen too but would trade him for a star.
I would trade Jalen for a box of popcorn and a couple of matinee tickets. He's the ultimate flash player and tease. I just don't ever see him being a consistent player. He has had stretches in the 2nd half every year where he looks like he has the superstar gene, but its always just a flash.
1 - Alpi: He's improved every year and I expect his outside shooting to be better next year. Should make his first All-Star game this year, barring injury. 2 - Bari: I think he'll develop into more than a 3/D PF. He's versatile and can play small ball 5. Solid rebounder/defender, who should take another step as a shooter/scorer this year. 3 - Amen: Believe he can be an All-Defensive Team starting next year if he starts. If he can develop his shot and improve his handle, he could be our Pippen. I'm less confident he can develop as PG, but I also wouldn't bet against it with his work ethic. 4 - Jalen: He should be higher based on his combination of skills, talent, and athleticism, but I believe his heart and his head are holding him back from being a star. If he can reprogram himself, he'll be a star, if he can't he'll have wasted enormous potential and will continue his inconsistent career. 5 - Cam: Love his offensive mentality of you can't stop me! Solid shooter with range and hard finisher. Needs work on handle, playmaking, and awareness on offense/defense. He has the instincts of a great scorer and just needs to continue to work hard. 6 - Tari: If Jalen had his heart, he'd be a superstar. Pure dawg, that has an uncanny knack of being in the right place. Hope he continues to work on his shooting and offensive game. Perfect 6th man or excellent fill-in starter at 3 or 4.
I think he is up till the draft due to his upside, value, & youth. After draft and before next trade deadline is another story and will depend on his improvement going into his 2nd year.
Nobody on this team is untouchable. Jalen and Sengun possess the most special skills. And Anen is a defensive freak, but his offensive deficits come close to negating that. So, they are all on the table. Just not all at once.
Yep, for the right price everybody should be available. I'm a huge fan of Cam. All he needs to do is improve his handles and he becomes an elite bucket getter and finisher.
There is no one available worth trading any of the core 6 for. Guys like Mitchell with only one year left would take additional assets and wouldn’t be worth it. If we trade at all this year, it will just be for a fringe vet or future draft picks, I could still see a scenario where we trade #3, but none of the deals out their would necessitate including one of our core six. It’s a bad year for drafting, FA’s and trades. The only superstar I could see shaking loose in the next few years is Giannis, but he isn’t available this year. If there was ever a year to stand pat it’s this year.
But they’re not. That is the point. Anybody worth giving up a core six player is not available. None of the current superstars or up-coming superstars are available. Name one that is available.
And controversially, I'd likely trade any 2 of our core guys for Wemby. The reward is more than worth the risk, even if he is an absolute ass hat of a human by all appearances.
The only one I can potentially think of in the short term would be Embid if the Sixers don't content next season. And he's too injury prone to take a gamble on
