Wow, just like that, throwing him into the fire.

    Sink or swim, buddy.

Very excited to see him pitch, but worried it may be a little rushed. Could’ve given Blubaugh a shot, but let’s see. I saw an interview with Bloss a month ago where he mentioned finishing up his last Master’s course for his finance degree at Georgetown while in Corpus. Kid could be on Wall Street.

Facing Baltimore in your first major league start is as tough as it gets.

Pulling a Roy Oswalt skipping AAA, let's hope Bloss can find the same success tomorrow night

Bloss and Arrighetti are a couple of guys that I think will be an important part of the Astros future, I think both of them got the call before being fully ready out of team necessity - I really hope the early call ups help rather than hinder them long term.

He also double majored in math and economics and also *minored* in data science as an undergrad at Lafayette College.

Bloss will be the 9th starter the Astros have used (game #76) with over half the season left.

Garcia and McCullers are expected back sometime in the 2nd half.

Dana Brown has said they are looking for SP to add at the deadline.

There are 7 SP in AAA who have not started for the Astros this year.

The Astros record for starters is 17 in 1965.

They have used 13 or more 5 times, most recently in 2015.

Interestingly, in 1977 they only used 13 pitchers the entire season but 12 of them started a game. In 1975, they used 15 and 13 of them started a game.

What a season. And we’re not even halfway through yet.

You'd never know this team is coming off 7 straight ALCS appearances.

This is also a lesson for Miguel Ullola, who is actually younger than Bloss or Blubaugh.

Miguel is giving up 4.5 hits per 9 innings and he is striking out nearly 1.5 hitters an inning --- but he is walking too many guys.

He would have gotten the call up from AA if he didn't walk so many.

The balance between power and control is precarious and difficult to master.

I had high hopes for pandemic Andre Scrubb, Blake Taylor, and Enoli Paredes...
