I fear the other side of the ball (offense) might be ugly, regardless. At least early on. Until we are able to make some roster moves.
If the Rockets get Marcus Smart, he is playing more than 20 minutes a night. He would definitely get 30 minutes a night. He does fit a need - the Rockets back court defensively isn't very good with FVV and Green, especially at the point of attack - Smart is great at that. Having said that - Smart makes 60 million over the next 3 years, he is almost 30 and he is a poor shooter, and the Rockets need shooting.
He’s in his prime. Hes not interested in that role. That’s why he got traded out of Boston. He wasn’t interested in a reduced role
Man i don’t think i could handle watching smart and brooks try to play offense, it would be disgusting.
He can go make his money somewhere else - he and Ryan Anderson already drained the Rockets rainy day fund.
Can you give some statistical backing that the Rockets point of attack defense at the perimeter is bad?
Agree with you. I think Marcus Smart was a great POA defender, not sure that he is now. Even before his injury last year, in his last year in Boston there was real slippage vs quick guards - he was better defensively against wings IMO where he could use his strength. Part of why Boston moved on. Also he’s a legitimately below average offensive player, and wouldn’t even be our best on-ball defender in closing lineups vs anyone (Amen).
(Kelly Iko) Pelicans offering Ingram for Sengun You can tell we are getting close to the draft by the silly/stupid/dumb info trades that are being released into the interwebzs!! Spoiler: It's going to be a hell of a ride.... Go Rockets!!! ....... ....... .......
You know DD I usually agree with you on your takes, but ima have to disagree. Our backcourt defense would be better, our offense obviously would suffer unless Jalen comes efficient and goes bananas on offense
ingram’s a head case going back to his fakers days. in his final playoff game with the pels coach barely even played his stupidazz
If Eric is looking for the Jeff / Jock special, than warmly welcome back Eric Gordon. I’m guessing it’s only possible if his other offers are NT-MLE / vet mind and he’d prefer a 1 year guaranteed full MLE instead. Minutes wise, probably makes the most sense if we plan on moving Jalen.
Today Ive read that the Rockets dont have good interior defense and also dont have good point of attack defense, but they were top 10 in defensive rating. Somebody is lying to me. Sidenote: Also, Rockets were bottom 10 in offensive rating. But we want to add more bad offensive players. Doesnt make sense to me.
If Rockets are going to build around Sengun and Memphis is looking to draft Clingan then we really should be pushing hard for JJJ. He is the perfect non-star big to play next to Sengun. Of course it'll take more than just the 3rd overall and I haven't tried to build out a trade but I'd rather have JJJ than Bridges
First there was Chuck Barkley. Then there was Scottie Quitten. Then there was almost Derek Fisher. Then there was Jason Terry. Then there was Michael Beasley. Then there was Chris Paul. Then there was Austin F$#king Rivers. Then there was Russell Westbrook. There's only so much a man can take. Please, Rockets, don't make me have to like Marcus Smart.
I'd definitely take a hard look at this. Ingram is clearly a better defender & scorer than Sengun, and also gives us more flexibility roster wise. I also think Jalen & Ingram would be a dynamic duo
