Steph played and started at Davidson? Davidson? Reed played at Kentucky, he was in a Kentucky’s draft class with multi 5 Star players. Reed is a team player, he will always pass first before he shoot….that’s who he is. Every time he shot 5 or more three pointers a game he was always efficient. Reed has decent handles, he can drive and kick, he can drive and pop. Reed is a nice player, he can shoot and a good passing guard. He was in the top 10 for steals in the NCAA.
There’s going to be a lot of disappointment around here if Reed is not the pick. I think I would take Matas at 3 if Sarr and Risacher are gone. His height scares me. I won’t be mad at it but I can’t draft him at 3.
I will respectively disagree. I played, not professionally by a long shot. But I did play and I know what I see. To get your shot off, first of all, you have to be able to move laterally. I don't see that. If you notice a player like Harden, when he was younger, it was no problem for him to get his shot off. Now, he struggles. Thats what I see with Reed today....laterally. He moves well north and south and he has hoops but laterally, Im just not seeing it. As a matter of fact, I think he would play well with a player like Luca or Harden, where all he has to do is get to a spot and shoot but not the Rockets.
The issue isn't so much your hot takes about Sheppard...I mean, that's bad enough, but the fact that you claim to have watched both Sheppard and Fredette play and you think they play the same way.....I mean, that's like saying you watched Olajuwon and Mutombo and think they played the same way because they are both tall and African. It's just so divorced from reality it can't be taken seriously. As to Sheppard creating his own shot, he's not an ISO player....neither is Steph, they are at their best when they get a bit of space via a pick or a DHO situation....and they don't need much space to get their shot off. On top of that, their gravity causes situations where they can head inside off a fake or whatever, slam on the brakes and get an open mid range shot which is money. On top of that, Sheppard is really good at keeping the ball moving and creating for his teammates....or whatever the game plan asked of him. If you watched Fredette, he was never much of a passer, he was a big fan of going ISO in college....which is something that he could get away with at that level but wouldn't translate to the NBA. He was also never much of a defender and had basically no athleticism. Both are white, both can hit from 3, both are about the same height. They have literally nothing else in common.
I notice you mention players color alot; Reed, Jimmer being white and just now Hakeem and Dikembe's nationality, do you have a problem with race? If so, there's no need for us to discuss anything further. I prefer to stick to basketball, if that's cool?
Yes....I'm sorry was that too subtle for you to follow along? You compared Sheppard to Jimmer simply because they are both white guards that are about the same height and I said that was similar to comparing Hakeem and Dikembe because they are both African centers are are about the same height. I was pointing out how stupid doing those kinds of things would be. If someone made comparisons like that, the assumption would be that they hadn't ever watched any of those players actually play basketball and were just being incredibly lazy.
Oh, come on, now. How long have yiu been here? Almost 3 years. You've been exposed to way, way, waaay stupider sh...er, crap than that.
Show me where I said anything about Reed or Jimmer being similar basketball players because of their nationality?
....there's literally no other reason to even attempt to compare them. They are COMPLETELY different players stylistically and from a talent perspective. You following along now?
Of course you did, you saw it was a 6'2 white guy and thought that must mean he's Jimmer Fredette. Now, you wouldn't have thought that if you had seen either player actually play, but you based your entire position on a slight cosmetic similarity. At least now you admit it.
I don't really watch college basketball so I'd really appreciate if someone tells me the difference between Reed Sheppard and Jimmer Fredette. Thanks in advance.
Ferdette amd Sheppard are completely different types of games.....and that isn't even accounting for defense which Jimmer didn't play. Come on man......just find someone better....as a comparison someone that at least plays the same style. DD
I have seen them both play and they are similar! It is what it is. Their games are very similar. I don't see Steph in his game nowhere. I think you guys are forcing it.
