I think college is more difficult right now with all of the transfer portal rules (and the upcoming ability to directly pay players). Look at all of the "old guard" coaches who have retired instead of dealing with the new rules: Nick Saban, Jay Wright, Coach K, Roy Williams, etc. Unlike the pros college kids can transfer after one year because they're not signing contracts with schools. The Lakers job isn't attractive right now because of LeBron. You cannot win a title with a 40-year-old player making a maximum salary. It's an impossibility and no serious coach would take that job so long as LeBron handicaps the team's ability to win.
LeBron is still better than like 85% of all the NBA Players His Numbers are good and he still pretty good on Defense I think people caught up on the age but watching the games Rocket River
The difficulty with LeBron isn't because he does not play up to his salary, it's because he is one of the least coachable players in the NBA. Nobody with their head screwed on will question his basketball acumen, but his arrogant and dismissive attitude towards his coaches and teammates works to the detriment of his teams. His relationship with key teammates is often "strained". The coach is instantly undermined because whatever ground rules he lays out, it is known LeBron can discard them whenever he wants. Basically, any Lakers team with LeBron is automatically dysfunctional because there are two coaches. It's been this way since he left Miami (and is one of the reasons he left). Pat Riley refused to allow the cult of LeBron to exist within the organization.
deserves its own thread . . . with "Rockets Coaching Legend™" in the thread title. get 'er done, J.R.
Man, do Clippers really need JVG on the bench as well? They just needed Kawhi to be healthy this year and they could of made a run. Playoff P will be a year older as well as Harden, so not sure how having JVG on the bench will help.
JVG as an assistant? In LA? I don't get it... And these two basketball minds were in Boston last night? Wish they were here helping Udoka.
Jason Williams let the cat out of the bag this morning, congratulating Redick on his new position as head coach of the Lakers on ESPN's morning show.
They MUST be able to make a run at Hurley Rocket River 65 million . . . I cannot say Detroit underacheived . . .well . . honestly I was not paying them any attention
"They did him wrong", "You can't blame him for losing with that roster" blah blah blah. The Pistons now have a chance to establish some credibility. I assume they already have a leading candidate (or two) regardless if they try to portray this as an open search.
