Dubon just doesn't look right at 1B, but Chas looks worse in RF. There needs to be a trade for a LEGIT starting 1B, DH Yordan, Chas in LF and Dubon in RF.
By all accounts the Astros are actively looking to trade for a veteran 1b. Ideal candidate would be a rental or is cheap who can hit somewhere in the middle of the lineup. According to Baseball Prospectus (Cot's Contracts) the Astros are estimated to have just a smidge under $3M before hitting the next CBT level and additional penalties. Goldschmidt, Alonzo, J. Bell, and Walker are rentals, Hoskins has an opt out, Vlad Jr and Josh Naylor have 1 more year. Ryan O'Hearn would have been perfect but has turned into Willie McCovey so even with their glut of young position players Baltimore is holding on to him. I think Josh Bell is the most likely (owed about $9.3M) The guy I want is Christian Walker (owed about $6.2M)
Chaz bombing so far has made LF just as big a need as 1B. Hopefully Loperfido can come up and establish himself as at least a league average bat, and plus hitter against RHP. It does give some flexibility in the external search that Dubon and theoretically Loperfido can play multiple positions. No need to specifically look for a 1B bat.
Yeah I think he’s been hurt most of the season. He’s barreling half as many balls as last season. Yainer’s barrel rate is also about half what it was last season. I wonder what’s going on there, but getting McCormock and Diaz back to the hitters they were last year while getting Dubon the bulk of the run at 1B makes this a complete lineup. I don’t think the Astros have any chance of catching Seattle unless the Mariners have multiple SP go down with significant injuries. The Mariners have an 8 game lead, a deep roster, and a very good farm system; their team is going to get better over the course of this season, not worse.
Rotation was cruising, then… Valdez 5 er in 4ip Brown tosses a gem JV hurt Arrighetti 7 er in 1.1ip FML
baaaahhhh....I've mentioned this before but ESPN used to let you do split splits...so I could look up the Team starting pitcher ERA over the last 30? games. What does playerX hit against RHP on the road? Is this still available without going through 43 clicks and drawdown menus on fangraphs?
Nope. Not what I was talking about. MLB is good though, so is BR, so is FG. I do love that mlb.com lets me look up what PlayerX has hit on Tuesdays (or any day of the week), because that is important info.
